MJ Swap and Gypsy Weekend

Since starting this blog, I’ve wanted to dedicate a post solely to great photos.  Well, that day has come.  Thanks to my new buddy, Chris from Chris Gomez Photography I’m posting some of his original photos from this past weekend in Austin.  I’ve been looking forward to this weekend for a while now, as...

So, how exactly should you eat for energy? Eat breakfast!  This will get you going.  Studies show better brain function and healthier weights among breakfast eaters.  If you’re not hungry for breakfast, you may be eating too much at night.  Start the day with some lean protein (ex: 2 eggs), high-fiber foods (ex: veggies...

This Post Might Save Your Bike’s Life

Last week I was lucky enough to knock a couple items off my #cyclingwishlist (like, literally). As I’m sure is the case for many of you, my list is pretty long….and it’s always so exciting when I’m able to make them a reality. Ever since I got rid of my hitch mount bike rack, I’ve...

There was an interesting story in The Standard online newspaper last week.  I didn’t find it myself, but my friend Victor from Bicycle Lab pointed it out to me saying it would make a great post for my site. Look Who’s Loving the Bike – November 2010

My friend, Cristi, from CyclingDomestique.com told me she was going to be interviewing Ben Day of the FlyVAustralia/ Pegasus Racing team, and wondered if there was anything I’d like for her to ask him.  I told her to find out what is was that caused him to start Loving the Bike.  Here is the...

Sugar Alternatives for Energy and Hydration

Question: I am using the homebrew sugar formulations (sometimes added to green tea).  I am also trying to wean myself off 1/2 dose adrenalean “lip tonic delivery system” (biorhythm brand- caffeine, hoodia g, synephrine, yohimbe) capsule for energy.

My question is other than juice, can you suggest modifications in lieu of table sugar for energy and hydration.

Answer:

Both raw/organic honey or agave can work great in the homebrew (substitute in the same quantities for the sugar, or to taste), but you do have to shake well in order to make sure they don’t settle out.  Have you tried either of these?  Also, make sure to use at least the minimum amount of salt recommended in the homebrew as the temps rise, you need the sodium replacement if you’re sweating.
