Surfing, Beer, and Motorcycles

It really doesn’t matter how much internal coolness you personally have, but just by being a surfer….or drinking beer…..or riding a motorcycle, you instantly up your cool factor. I’ve always been fascinated about this concept and how these three things have such impact in how we view other people. As with most things in...

You Likely Aren’t Reading This

Yeah, sort of an oxymoron because if you’ve gotten this far then you are in fact reading this.  But come on, it’s Monday the 4th of July and the Tour de France is under way…..who has time to read a cycling blog? I guess the moral of this #MakeitHappen Monday post is to show...

My f’d up Life in Paradise

When people hear that I lived in the Caribbean, they always seem so jealous and talk about how it must have been paradise.  But paradise is a word that is often used so incorrectly. Sure there was great beaches, hot weather, and lush greenery everywhere…..but paradise goes so much deeper, and includes everything that...

Canadian….again

It’s only fitting that this post is coming out on Victoria Day.  My first time being in Canada for a National holiday in about six or seven years. Better known as the “May Long”, it’s the un-official kick off to summer in this country of mine.  But for me it is so much more...

Create Your Own Attitude

I’ve talked many times about Creating Your Own Culture, and I’m still a firm believer that everyone should have the confidence to be able to do that.  But there’s also the idea of creating your own attitude. I don’t know about you, but my mood and vibe can be drastically affected by those around...

I Am Totally Out of Date

There was a time in my life…like even within the last 5 to 10 years….when I thought there is no way that I’d ever be out of the loop on music and technology.  Yeah, I would come across people who totally didn’t have a clue with what was hot in the music scene….and living...

Big Time Change

Okay, so if you tuned into #bikeschool last Thursday you would have seen me drop some pretty huge news.  To be honest, I wasn’t going to get into everything here on the website or anywhere else until it had already happened.  But the spirit and excitement of our weekly bike chat brought it out...

The Power and Happiness of Self Awareness

The Power and Happiness of Self Awareness

It hit me over 15 years ago.  The internal knowing that if I just completely be myself at all times, that everything else will all fall into place.  Best of all, I’ll feel a lot better in the process. I started working as a marketing rep for Costco Wholesale around 1995, and when I...

Keep on Riding with Superberries Aroniaberry+ Daily Wellness Shot

I was recently contacted by Superberries and I was asked to review the Aroniaberry+ product.  Superberries sent me the product free of charge and here’s what I have to say about it. None of us want to get sick and miss time on the bike, right? With all the germs floating around, how do...

Cycling and the Science of Happiness

I always talk about “Loving Life on and off the Bike”, but do you think it’s easier to be happy in all areas because of the fact that we ride bicycles? I came across an article last week called The Science Behind Why Cycling Makes Us Happier, and it sparked me to relate this...

Sugar Alternatives for Energy and Hydration

Question: I am using the homebrew sugar formulations (sometimes added to green tea).  I am also trying to wean myself off 1/2 dose adrenalean “lip tonic delivery system” (biorhythm brand- caffeine, hoodia g, synephrine, yohimbe) capsule for energy.

My question is other than juice, can you suggest modifications in lieu of table sugar for energy and hydration.

Answer:

Both raw/organic honey or agave can work great in the homebrew (substitute in the same quantities for the sugar, or to taste), but you do have to shake well in order to make sure they don’t settle out.  Have you tried either of these?  Also, make sure to use at least the minimum amount of salt recommended in the homebrew as the temps rise, you need the sodium replacement if you’re sweating.
