We Need Nature as Much as Nature Needs Us

Earth Day 2014 happens tomorrow, April 22.  Arguably one of the least celebrated holidays of the year.  Unquestionably the most important one. A few years ago I wrote an article about the interaction between us and nature, and how each of us relies on the other for life.  I don’t think its coincidence that it...

The Mightiest Energy Drink

As cyclists, we all know how important water is….right?  It’s like a drug we must have for the ride. Brain-Boosting Through Exercise

Mental Fitness in Poker and How Biking Can Help Achieve It Poker isn’t just classed as the world’s most popular card game.  Chess aside, it might very well be the world’s most popular mind sport, too.  It is, after all, a game that requires constant thinking of abstract calculations. Sugar Alternatives for Energy and Hydration

Question: I am using the homebrew sugar formulations (sometimes added to green tea).  I am also trying to wean myself off 1/2 dose adrenalean “lip tonic delivery system” (biorhythm brand- caffeine, hoodia g, synephrine, yohimbe) capsule for energy.

My question is other than juice, can you suggest modifications in lieu of table sugar for energy and hydration.

Answer:

Both raw/organic honey or agave can work great in the homebrew (substitute in the same quantities for the sugar, or to taste), but you do have to shake well in order to make sure they don’t settle out.  Have you tried either of these?  Also, make sure to use at least the minimum amount of salt recommended in the homebrew as the temps rise, you need the sodium replacement if you’re sweating.
