When Fatigue is More Than Fatigue

Funkier Quick Custom Jersey

The Driver’s Lazy Foot

Want to know one of the major issues causing vehicle – bicycle collisions?  The driver’s lazy foot. Of course this is just my own personal research story, and a lot of it is based on educated opinion and not fact…..but I am confident in saying that if this issue could be fixed, we’d have a...

When I clicked the record button for this week’s Loving the Bike TV, I honestly didn’t have a topic in mind….but it only took a few seconds for me to remember the personal ah-ha moment I had earlier in the day. Yep, I’m sure I’ve talked about it before….but once again I was reminded...

The Tool Bottle

Here’s one of the simplest and easiest cycling tips we’ve ever given out.  A few months ago I started riding with “the tool bottle” for lack of better name…..and it’s awesome. I honestly can’t figure out how I never did something like this before, but glad that I’ve finally incorporated it into my set up....

Effective Time Breeds Relaxing Time

We celebrated our Loving the Bike 5 year birthday last Friday.  If there’s one thing I’ve learned over these years is that by busting my butt and putting in effective time…..I’m now able to coast a little and take time for relaxation. Let me explain.  In the beginning, I put in hours and hours...

You Can’t Silence Me or Bob Marley

You Can’t Silence Me or Bob Marley

By some massively cool coincidence, Loving the Bike shares the same birthday with the legend, Bob Marley.  Today, we turn five….and if Bob was still around we’d be clinking mellow mood cans and toasting his 70th. In honor of our special day, I thought it would be perfect timing to share a true Bob...

Riding Outside the Box

I’ve talked many times about thinking outside the box and doing things differently, but what is this idea of Riding Outside the Box all about? I don’t know about you, but I often get caught up riding the same sort of intensity and mileage almost every week.  Not like that’s a bad thing as I’m...

January 28, 2015

Last night I realized that at this moment in my life, I don’t want anything more than I have right now.  Seeing that I live a pretty simple life, I thought it’s a great feeling to be this way. How about you?  Are you content with where you’re at?  I feel it’s another ingredient...

Sugar Alternatives for Energy and Hydration

Question: I am using the homebrew sugar formulations (sometimes added to green tea).  I am also trying to wean myself off 1/2 dose adrenalean “lip tonic delivery system” (biorhythm brand- caffeine, hoodia g, synephrine, yohimbe) capsule for energy.

My question is other than juice, can you suggest modifications in lieu of table sugar for energy and hydration.

Answer:

Both raw/organic honey or agave can work great in the homebrew (substitute in the same quantities for the sugar, or to taste), but you do have to shake well in order to make sure they don’t settle out.  Have you tried either of these?  Also, make sure to use at least the minimum amount of salt recommended in the homebrew as the temps rise, you need the sodium replacement if you’re sweating.
