Hey Eric! First off I am glad you are still loving the bike after taking some face time with the 4 wheelers! It’s a terrifying thing sometimes and I know most people behind the wheel don’t even know it. I appreciate you commenting and spreading the word! Keep the rubber side down my friend.

Having been struck by a car on two different occasions and fortunate enough to be talking about it, this one really HITS home, and gives me the cold sweats. Funny thing is, even having felt it from the cyclists perspective, I still find myself NOT as careful as I should be when behind the wheel of a car. All of the potential distractions and multi-tasking while driving is really really a bad thing.

The primary message to me though is. more bikes, less cars. More of a percentage of expenditures (note I am not saying government should spend more money!!!! big difference) on REAL bike only routes. Painted lines that say “bike lane”, on overloaded streets does NOT cut it.

I have only been commuting for a little over a year and a half and I can honestly say that this Spring has been way worse than anything prior to it. Its so frustrating and you are right, scary. I pretty much won’t commute in the rain anymore because I am too worried about the traffic on my roads.

I agree. There are SO many reasons why drivers should really give cyclists a little more respect. It’s a battle we have to fight.

It seems to me like this spring has been worse than ever before. I have heard a lot of stories about cyclists getting hit, injured, or killed and it scares me very much. I don’t know what the answer is, but it needs to improve quickly.
