Retired and can do what I want. I love getting up early for a ride, but not the winter time. After riding for a couple of hours, I love to stop for that cup of coffee and a danish. By the way, if the pictures you posted can’t get you up for a sunrise, then nothing can. Great pictures!

Wow, thanks. Actually this winter has been pretty mild and without a lot of snow. I’ve only gone through 2 sets of brake pads as well, an indication of how much dirt/grit is on the road. Still had a cold day of around -25˚C or so. Love your site too and your enthusiasm for biking!

I commute by bike to the train at 5:40 am. Winter is tough, seeing where the moon is at that hour is a treat (it’s always somewhere different in the heavens!), no traffic and it’s now getting light earlier and earlier. I virtually have the roads to myself.

End of the day commute is a different story altogether.

For me an early morning ride is wonderfully peaceful and riding in the dark is surreal.

There is nothing better than an early morning ride before anyone else is out on the streets. I am ready to get out there early again as soon as the temperatures cooperate. There is also the benefit of calm conditions and getting out there before the winds pick up.

I love early morning rides. My commute isn’t super early, but I catch a nice sunrise every now and then. I like to start my training rides as early as possible, especially in the summer to avoid heavier traffic and the Texas heat.

My morning commutes really vary. In December, with the winter bike, studded tires, snow on the ground and dark going to work and dark coming back. In the fall and spring there are these amazing shadows cast long beside me. In the summer on a great shiny day riding my road bike it just feels awesome. My commute is about to double in April, 13Km to 27Km one way. We’ll see how that goes.
