5 Things to do With Your Road ID in the Off-Season

I’ve been wearing a Road ID on my wrist for about the past 5 years.  Luckily I’ve never needed any medical staff to make use of it, but I like having it there.  To be honest, I dig it for other reasons than what it would provide for me if I was hurt on...

Fly6 (Combination Tail-Light & HD Camera) Review and Giveaway

When I was first contacted by Fly6, they were in the middle of their Kickstarter campaign to raise funds for their unique product.  As the world’s first tail-light/video recorder, they had the mission to make drivers aware they might be recorded, so they behave appropriately. I was intrigued by their idea, and as you...

Shit Cycling Climbers Say

It’s been about a year and a half since the “Shit Cyclists Say” video went viral and spurned a bunch of similar type posts.  My buddy, Ryan van Duzer was the star of the original video (which has had well over a million views) and it’s still the best of the bunch. It’s been long...

Loving the BITE: Recipe for the Long Ride – Carborocket Review and Giveaway

Sometimes, you’ve just got to get on your bike and ride all day.  Not a 1 hour or 2 hour ride.  But, a 5+ hour ride that allows you to comfortably get into the rhythm of cycling, while not-so-comfortably pushing your limits.  I love long bike rides. If you want to feel almost as...

I think the first product review I ever did on this site was for Nuun Hydration.  It wasn’t because they sent me out some samples to try out, but because I digged the product and wanted to tell our readers all about it.  In that original review, I explain what the product is, what...

Sugar Alternatives for Energy and Hydration

Question: I am using the homebrew sugar formulations (sometimes added to green tea).  I am also trying to wean myself off 1/2 dose adrenalean “lip tonic delivery system” (biorhythm brand- caffeine, hoodia g, synephrine, yohimbe) capsule for energy.

My question is other than juice, can you suggest modifications in lieu of table sugar for energy and hydration.

Answer:

Both raw/organic honey or agave can work great in the homebrew (substitute in the same quantities for the sugar, or to taste), but you do have to shake well in order to make sure they don’t settle out.  Have you tried either of these?  Also, make sure to use at least the minimum amount of salt recommended in the homebrew as the temps rise, you need the sodium replacement if you’re sweating.
