Change….Begins With You

It begins with you… I started to respond to the “Please Stop Killing Cyclists” post, and after a couple hours of writing I realized this might be a better blog.  Whenever I read a story about anyone losing a life in an accident it tears me up, life is so, so valuable and to have...

How Far Would You Go to Fit In?

Fear

I was out on Sunday with my favorite riding partner and we passed this word – the only unnatural thing on the expanse of this wall along the train tracks.  I told him I wanted to stop, and he waited patiently for me while I took this photo. We started off again.  He was...

Paying It Forward

I gave away this bike on Saturday.  Although it looks like an ordinary bike, this one was something special. This bike was therapist, friend, life preserver, and constant companion for the better part of a year.  It was the reason to get out of bed in the morning and something to look forward to...

What do you want to do before you die?  It’s the million dollar question, but how many of you have thought about it enough to know exactly what would go on your list? Some call it the “Bucket List”, others just call them goals.  Whatever you label it as, it’s the list that will...

The Hero Blog

Hero Blog By Joel Phillips Hero…quite a magnificent four-letter word isn’t it?  The very mention of the word evokes feelings of inspiration, and who doesn’t like a story about a hero.  Growing up in Cheyenne (Wyoming), one of the many places I would ride my bike was City News, a local mom & pop...

Sugar Alternatives for Energy and Hydration

Question: I am using the homebrew sugar formulations (sometimes added to green tea).  I am also trying to wean myself off 1/2 dose adrenalean “lip tonic delivery system” (biorhythm brand- caffeine, hoodia g, synephrine, yohimbe) capsule for energy.

My question is other than juice, can you suggest modifications in lieu of table sugar for energy and hydration.

Answer:

Both raw/organic honey or agave can work great in the homebrew (substitute in the same quantities for the sugar, or to taste), but you do have to shake well in order to make sure they don’t settle out.  Have you tried either of these?  Also, make sure to use at least the minimum amount of salt recommended in the homebrew as the temps rise, you need the sodium replacement if you’re sweating.
