We’re only a few days from the end of another exciting #30daysofbiking, and Team #LovingtheBike has been representing and posting some amazing pictures on our facebook page.

If you haven’t already heard of the extra kick we give the #3odaysofbiking challenge, you can read about how Team #LovingtheBike spends the month of April, in this post.

The winners in our Hottest Piece of Cycling Ass Photo Contest have been determined.  Yes, this one was just a little controversial…but also a lot of fun.  Good job to all of you who submitted your butt photos….it takes a lot of guts to do that.

The voting round finished on Friday night and in the end it was these two butts that got the most votes.

The Runner’s Up….and More:

We had a request to post an album of hot butts, so here are the runner’s up as well as some of the other cycling ass photos that were submitted.

No, this is not a joke.  No, we have not been hacked.  Yes, we are asking you to vote for your favorite piece of cycling ass.

A couple weeks ago, we invited you all to submit a photo of you (or one of your riding buddies) wearing cycling gear…..but we wanted to photo to focus on the butt region.  I honestly wasn’t sure how many of you would take us up on this, seeing as it’s sort of a touchy subject….but the response was fantastic.  Turns out that many people actually do like sharing pictures of their ass.  Or maybe it was the sweet prize pack from Twin Six that enticed them to enter.

We called this contest, “The Hottest Piece of Ass” and man did I hear feedback on my choice of title.  Here at Loving the Bike we’re a pretty clean cut website, so it’s no surprise that this stirred people up.  But that was sort of the idea.  We wanted to add a little shock value.

Okay, so we randomly selected 3 male and 3 female submissions and have posted them for you all to vote.  Like we mentioned last time, big or small…and anyone who pulls on a pair of spandex or cycling shorts is a champion to us.  We hope you feel the same way.

It’s about time we had some laughs! Summer is almost over, kids are heading back to school and some people are packing their lives in to bags and moving all over the world in search of their dreams. With that in mind I though we should try to lighten the mood a little and spread some funnies. Todays post is going to be a short one otherwise I’m going to post loads of the funny cycling related photos that I’ve already found online which will spoil everyone else’s fun!

We would like you to upload or link your photos on Twitter using the hashtag #CyclingFunnies and also the #bikeschool tag so that those funny cycling moments can be shared with everyone. Whether it be an NFL team pedalling kids bikes to practice, cycling dogs or just some perfect photographic timing, we want to see it. Search the internet, forums or even create your own! There will be a special prize (we’re giving away a series pack of Yehuda Moon and the Kickstand Cyclery) to the best photo submitted that has been specially created for this reason so get your friends together, fire up the camera and sharpen that wit.

The voting begins right now to select the ultimate cycling landscape photo.  Oh man, I never would have imagined how many incredible photos would have been submitted to our Cycling Landscape Photo Contest.  The amount and quality of the photos we received was absolutely staggering, and narrowing things down to a top five list was horrific.  Thanks to everyone who submitted their photos….they all really were amazing.

Over the weekend, my two pro photo judges (Alex Molick and Dan Joder) and I somehow managed to come up with a top five list, and now it’s time for all of you to vote on your favorite.

These photos are battling it out for some amazing prizes (see complete prize list right here).  Help select the winner by voting for the Cycling Landscape Photo you like best….you can vote once per day from today through this Thursday, March 8th.  We’ll announce the winner and runner’s up on Friday.

I didn’t want to post any of the photos that have come in so far because I thought it best to wait and just post the top 5 once they are selected by our panel of judges…..but there is a sneak peek in our Cycling Landscape Photo folder on Facebook.  I also wanted to share with you a behind the scenes look at how that Monument Valley RAAM photo that I posted last week came together.  It’s definitely one of my favorite cycling photos ever and it’s also what inspired this photo contest.  Scroll down to the bottom of this post for details on how to submit your photo.

We want you to share your favorite “Cycling Landscape” photos with us, so be sure to check out the rules and regulations below and be part of this incredible contest.  Submission will be accepted between now and March 1, 2012.  At that time, the top 5 photos will be selected by my two expert photo buddies (Dan Joder and Alex Molick) along with myself.

The selected photos will be posted on March 7th and the voting will begin.  The person who submitted the photo that receives the most votes, will win our Grand Prize.

Contest Rules and Reg’s:

• All photos must include a bike (any kind of bike) and what you feel is an incredible scenic backdrop. Duh.
• Photo can be taken using any kind of camera.
• Photos can be personal shots taken by you or someone you know (please give photo credit by including photographers full name).
• Photos can also be professional photos, but in this case you must be sure there are no copyright restrictions and must include the name of the photographer and a link to where you found the photo.
• Only one submission will be accepted per person, so be sure to choose wisely and select your absolute favorite.
• Feel free to use any type of post-process editing to help give the photos a little something extra.
• Make sure the photos you submit are of descent resolution.  The higher the resolution the better, but anything over 700 or 800px wide would be great. Other sizes will be accepted as well.
• Photos must be submitted by Midnight EST on March 1, 2012.
• We welcome submissions from all over the world, but only able to submit winning prizes to those located in North America.  We’ll see what we can come up with for any international finalists.

The rider is Nadia Rowe, easily the most incredible female rider I’ve ever met, riding with her have been some of the best times on a bike I’ve ever had, she’s always got great energy, skill, and style on the bike.  This photo was shot as she came ripping through a berm below a really fast and incredibly fun wooden double through the trees – an amazing experience riding through as you hear the sound of your tires flying over the dirt singletrack leading to the jump, then loud and very distinct sound of your bike on the wood….followed by complete silence as you soar over the gap, and then bam, you’re back on the ground and flying through a hard, gravity-fed turn.

The editing on this photo was minimal – lighting and color tweaks, a tad bit of saturation increase, and cropped to a wide profile.

Alex Molick:

Alex is a Denver, Colorado based photographer.  He doesn’t consider himself a pro, but definitely enjoys photographing the world around him…and expanding his horizons and always learning more.  He is also a bicycle mechanic, trail worker, and a land use/geology major.  A native of Colorado, Alex is a passionate outdoors-man, always trying to integrate photography projects into as many aspects of his life that he can.

Cycling Landscape Photo Contest

Tomorrow we are dropping the details on what I feel is our most exciting contest ever.  You can get a head start by collecting the greatest photo you’ve ever seen (or taken) that includes a cyclist and an amazing landscape backdrop.  Then head on back here tomorrow for the goods on this contest, and the awesome prize packages available.

This photo from last year’s Race Across America is one of my favorite cycling photos ever.  Not only did I have to share it with all of you, I wanted to let you know more about the photographer, location, and rider pictured in it as well.  In addition to all of that, I’m also going to give you a few details on the incredible “Cycling Landscape” Photo Contest we’ve got coming very soon.

Dan Joder

Although Dan has spent the past 25 years of his life as a Cat 3 (and presently a Masters) bike racer, he doesn’t consider his photography to be focused on cycling.  Generally his photos are of nature, landscapes, and streets.  But when he crewed for his friend, Dex Tooke, in the 2011 Race Across America (RAAM) that all changed.

Going coast to coast at 15mph is a great way to see the country!  If you don’t know much about RAAM though, rest assured, it is most certainly the Mt. Everest of competitive ultra cycling.  For these riders, the competition is much more an internal, psychological affair than a battle against one another.  All, from the fastest to the slowest, deal with fatigue, saddle sores, hallucinations, sleep deprivation, wind, hail, heat, traffic, crew conflicts, navigation errors, mechanical issues and more in their 3000-mile crossing of America.

If you get a chance to crew for a RAAM rider–DO IT!
