Update From Everysight’s Augmented Reality Cycling Smartglasses

A while back I wrote about how Everysight’s new product had caught my attention.  Well, this augmented reality smartglass company continues moving forward and just recently teamed up with Chris McCormack…..a professional ironman champion known as “The World’s Fittest Athlete”. In my opinion, augmented reality is the newest cool buzzword in the world of technology.  You...

True Women’s Cycling Clothing from Knights of Mo’Bay

Ugh, another male specific jersey in a woman’s cut with elastic seams around the hips.  Oh wait there’s another flower, bird print or ugly busy pink jerseys. Yeah, women don’t like these tired themes.  But our friends at Knights of Mo’Bay have several options that are designed to give women alternative choices for their cycling...

Cold Cycling Re-entry

As you may or may not know, this is the first time in like six years that I haven’t had a year round summer.  Although the Comox Valley is one of the few places in Canada where you’re usually able to road bike all year, it still gets quite cold.  Plus this winter the...

Okay, so who doesn’t like playing around with new cycling tech gadgets?  Yeah, so when the crew from Tigra Sport asked me if I’d like to try out their TRIO I was like “yeah, totally”. I asked them to send me an iPhone mount as well because if it’s going to be a device...

Bringing Back the Riding with Music Debate

I’m honestly not much of a debater.  Further, I don’t generally jump into a heated discussion and try to voice my opinion.  But every so often, I step knowingly into the fire……just like I am once again. I’ve been cycling with music in my ears for like 10 years now.  I respect the argument...

MyID for on and off the Bike

I’ve always liked the idea of having some sort of personal ID on me when out for a ride.  You know…..just in case. It’s something we don’t want to think about, but being pro-active is always a good thing.  Way back, I used to ride with a little note written on paper that had...

Sugar Alternatives for Energy and Hydration

Question: I am using the homebrew sugar formulations (sometimes added to green tea).  I am also trying to wean myself off 1/2 dose adrenalean “lip tonic delivery system” (biorhythm brand- caffeine, hoodia g, synephrine, yohimbe) capsule for energy.

My question is other than juice, can you suggest modifications in lieu of table sugar for energy and hydration.

Answer:

Both raw/organic honey or agave can work great in the homebrew (substitute in the same quantities for the sugar, or to taste), but you do have to shake well in order to make sure they don’t settle out.  Have you tried either of these?  Also, make sure to use at least the minimum amount of salt recommended in the homebrew as the temps rise, you need the sodium replacement if you’re sweating.
