Bicycles Highlighted on New Travel Channel Series

Bicycles have not been given enough screen time on television programs, but thanks to Ryan van Duzer that’s about to change. You’ve seen me post about Ryan several times here on Loving the Bike.  Over the past few years he’s become a good friend and I consider him one of the greatest bicycle advocacy...

Cycling Promoted on House Hunters International

July 28, 2013

It was so nice having the opportunity to promote cycling during the recent episode of House Hunters International. Basically it’s a show about buying or renting a house in an international destination….but I had to make sure I promoted bikes as much as I could for our episode. Yeah, in case you haven’t seen...

Mountain Bike Insanity

Okay, so how did I miss this one?  Red Bull’s Rampage 2012 took place late last year and I just watched it for the first time a few days ago.  With all the content that gets highlighted on social media, I really don’t know how I hadn’t seen this one flash across my screen....

Some Serfas Face Time

July 24, 2013

When we moved to Grenada, I really thought the product reviews done by myself would stop.  It’s quite difficult and expensive to bring things in to the Caribbean so I moved here realizing that receiving fantastic products from great companies had come to an end. But there’s been a few products I’ve reviewed and...

Win a Nuun Prize Pack

July 10, 2013

I think the first product review I ever did on this site was for Nuun Hydration.  It wasn’t because they sent me out some samples to try out, but because I digged the product and wanted to tell our readers all about it.  In that original review, I explain what the product is, what...

My buddy….and Mocha Spoke business partner, Marc DeCaul is a superstar triathlete who definitely knows all about cycling.  Growing up on the Caribbean island of Grenada has also taught him about the importance of carrying a “Get Out of Jail Free” card with him while on the road. Cycling Tips from Broken Bones

Last year at Interbike, I picked a company called Broken Bones as my favorite of the show.  It wasn’t because they had the best technology or had the best bike, but because of the very cool attitude they were bringing to the cycling industry. I  like to call myself a rule-breaker, and I’m definitely...

Sugar Alternatives for Energy and Hydration

Question: I am using the homebrew sugar formulations (sometimes added to green tea).  I am also trying to wean myself off 1/2 dose adrenalean “lip tonic delivery system” (biorhythm brand- caffeine, hoodia g, synephrine, yohimbe) capsule for energy.

My question is other than juice, can you suggest modifications in lieu of table sugar for energy and hydration.

Answer:

Both raw/organic honey or agave can work great in the homebrew (substitute in the same quantities for the sugar, or to taste), but you do have to shake well in order to make sure they don’t settle out.  Have you tried either of these?  Also, make sure to use at least the minimum amount of salt recommended in the homebrew as the temps rise, you need the sodium replacement if you’re sweating.
