We’re back with another jersey give-away this week….but this time it’s extra special because it’s one of our own.  That’s right this is your chance to win one of our Loving the Bike Jerseys.

It would be kind of strange to review our own clothing, but one thing that I’ll say is those guys over at Groucho Sports sure know how to put together some mighty fine product.  We buddied up with Groucho last May and introduced the Loving the Bike line of Jerseys, Kits, and T-shirts so that everyone out there could become part of the “Loving the Bike Army”.  But the one thing we haven’t yet done is give one of these beautiful jerseys away….So today is the day.

Enter to Win:

It’s really easy to enter this one.  Simply leave a comment below letting us know what other merchandise you’d like to see from Loving the Bike.  Yep, that’s it. The contest closes on Thursday at Noon EST so get in to win right now.  The winning comment will be selected using random.org and we’ll announce who won on Thursday afternoon.

In addition to the jerseys, we also have Shorts, Kits, and T-Shirts.  For more about our Loving the Bike Collection from Groucho Sports, please visit http://gear.grouchosports.com/category/collaborations.

Enjoy Your Ride

  3. Ben on November 15, 2011 at 5:03 pm

Have you considered arm warmers? theyre universally useful no matter where a person lives, theres always a few rides a year at minimum where arm warmers would come in really handy.

  4. Julie Starling on November 15, 2011 at 4:52 pm

I’d like to see colors other than black.  I’m trying to be seen out there.

I would totally sport the socks. And not to get too charity-ride on you, but a little Loving the Bike Bento Box type thing might be nice.

    • Darryl is Loving the Bike on November 15, 2011 at 8:21 pm

Thanks Eli, I appreciate your suggestions.  Socks definitely seem to be a popular choice so I’m sure they’ll be coming out soon.

I would like to see water bottles as well….but cool ones, that are insulated and change color with an added pack of selectable stickers and poignant sayings that inspire and encourage,

Or maybe just a plain bottle…

  30. Martha A. Boyd on November 15, 2011 at 12:50 pm

I will turn into a Groucho if I don’t win that jersey.  I would love to have Loving the Bike jersey in my collection. :)

  31. Robert Prol on November 15, 2011 at 12:50 pm

It would seem that lovin my bike means taking good care of it. So cleaning brushes and other stuff like that.

    • Darryl is Loving the Bike on November 15, 2011 at 3:24 pm

Ahhhh, good idea.  If you’re going to be Loving the Bike, you need to be taking good care of it right?  I like it.

  32. jeremyiridebikes on November 15, 2011 at 12:50 pm

    Arm and leg warmers FTW.

    Nice jersey by the way.

    • Darryl is Loving the Bike on November 15, 2011 at 3:23 pm

Thanks Jeremy.  Great suggestions and I hope we can add them to our line of merchandise.

  33. Mr McWhirter on November 15, 2011 at 12:29 pm

I have a need for a towel for when I’m on the trainer,

  34. Antoine RJ Wright on November 15, 2011 at 12:27 pm

Yea, that’s a nice jersey. I’d love to win it.

As for a product for Loving the Bike to sell, I’d like to see something like a (slightly more protected) Fahrer iPad Bicycle Case (http://www.dmarge.com/2011/08/fahrer-ipad-bicycle-case.html). I like carrying my iPad to venues, but having to put it in a bag isn’t so cycle chic ya know. So yea, something like this case, with the Loving the Bike logo on the stem-holder piece, and maybe a bit more impact protection (since we all take a fall from time to time). Ideal commuter product then.

  35. Papamev on November 15, 2011 at 12:26 pm

I would love to see water bottles so I can add to my collection.

    • Darryl is Loving the Bike on November 15, 2011 at 3:22 pm

Water bottles are pretty easy to add to our line of merchandise, I think.  I’ll check with Groucho and see if we can add these to the mix.

  36. KeiferB on November 15, 2011 at 12:20 pm

    • Darryl is Loving the Bike on November 15, 2011 at 12:24 pm

We do have the shorts as well and you can see them over at http://gear.grouchosports.com/category/groucho-collaborative.

“Loving the Bike” Panniers or Pannier covers?

  41. Steve Dinn on November 15, 2011 at 12:12 pm

I would love to see anything merino wool, from jerseys, to socks, to shorts, to tights.

  42. Joe Galliani on November 15, 2011 at 12:12 pm

I’d really like to see some “Bikes Belong!” and “Share the Damn Road!” jerseys we can wear when cycling on streets here that people think are owned and ruled only by motor vehicles.

  43. Bill Cunningham on November 15, 2011 at 12:11 pm

Socks are good.  Not sure about bike thongs … not my style … but, might enjoy seeing on the road, dependent on who’s wearing them!!

  44. Keith R Edmiston on November 15, 2011 at 12:09 pm

    Socks

  45. Susan on November 15, 2011 at 12:02 pm

How about selling books about becoming a better cyclist?

  46. Steve Montalto on November 15, 2011 at 12:01 pm

My ride wants some “Loving the Bike” Lovin’.  Maybe a saddle bag, some stickers…

  47. Aaronthestrong on November 15, 2011 at 12:00 pm

Loving the bike THONGS. Totally would sport a whale tail with some loving the bike action…Seriously though, I think hats would be rad…black, with no text, just the LTB logo in white. Or maybe even the Logo from the right side of this page advertising Groucho.

    • Darryl is Loving the Bike on November 15, 2011 at 3:21 pm

Nice one, Aaron.  I know you’ve been wanting a Loving the Bike kit for a while now so good luck to you in this contest.  I’ll let you know when the thongs are ready for order…hahahaha.

  48. Eric on November 15, 2011 at 11:55 am

I have wanted one of these for a long time.  I sure do hope I win it.  I would also like to see a loving the bike long sleeve shirt.

    • Darryl is Loving the Bike on November 15, 2011 at 4:55 pm

I actually have the one and only long sleeve at the moment.  It was a prototype and I love it….hope we can add it to our merchandise list for you.

  49. Jim Rusnell on November 15, 2011 at 11:53 am

  50. Jessy Diamond on November 15, 2011 at 11:50 am

Sugar Alternatives for Energy and Hydration

Question: I am using the homebrew sugar formulations (sometimes added to green tea).  I am also trying to wean myself off 1/2 dose adrenalean “lip tonic delivery system” (biorhythm brand- caffeine, hoodia g, synephrine, yohimbe) capsule for energy.

My question is other than juice, can you suggest modifications in lieu of table sugar for energy and hydration.

Answer:

Both raw/organic honey or agave can work great in the homebrew (substitute in the same quantities for the sugar, or to taste), but you do have to shake well in order to make sure they don’t settle out.  Have you tried either of these?  Also, make sure to use at least the minimum amount of salt recommended in the homebrew as the temps rise, you need the sodium replacement if you’re sweating.
