Do you remember the movie, Castaway from about 15 years ago?  Well, there is a quote from the movie that I’ve always had floating around inside of me.  Every so often, those words need to surface so I can follow through with their wisdom.

In this week’s Loving the Bike TV episode, I talk about those words and how they can help you love life on and off the bike.

Great advice. I tell my kids (and myself) that tomorrow is a new day and we can start again. Just keep on going – keep breathing – and things will change.

Happy Festivus (today the 23rd) to y’all and Happy Christmas, too. Sure doesn’t feel like Christmas here in ATX – it was 80F today.

Living in the moment. That is a tough one. Sometimes you feel so overwhelmed that you forget to breathe. And sometimes the goal seems so impossible. So you have to believe that it is possible. Be impeccable with your word. You create with your word. You can achieve whatever you create with your word. Even without Wilson.

Sugar Alternatives for Energy and Hydration

Question: I am using the homebrew sugar formulations (sometimes added to green tea).  I am also trying to wean myself off 1/2 dose adrenalean “lip tonic delivery system” (biorhythm brand- caffeine, hoodia g, synephrine, yohimbe) capsule for energy.

My question is other than juice, can you suggest modifications in lieu of table sugar for energy and hydration.

Answer:

Both raw/organic honey or agave can work great in the homebrew (substitute in the same quantities for the sugar, or to taste), but you do have to shake well in order to make sure they don’t settle out.  Have you tried either of these?  Also, make sure to use at least the minimum amount of salt recommended in the homebrew as the temps rise, you need the sodium replacement if you’re sweating.
