Follow Your Own Path

My Monday has been officially kickstarted thanks to inspirational artist Heather Rushton.  A few weeks ago, my wife sent me the link to this picture below and explained how beautiful she thought it was and how it fits so nicely into the vibe over here at Loving the Bike.  So I contacted Heather (the artist who created it) and she was nice enough to send one of the prints over to us.

I’m a sucker for bicycle artwork and very happy to be adding this one to our collection.  I’ve talked many times about “creating my own culture“, so having something around that reminds me to Follow Your Own Path is very much welcomed in our home.

Of course I like this bicycle piece of Heather’s the best….but she has a bunch of motivational and inspirational designs available at her Etsy shop.  All of her artwork is based on friendship and magical things from Heather’s Childhood.  She incorporates mermaids, fairies, unicorns, angles, and other great “non-reality” type things into each one…..and I also happen to be a lover of all things fantasy.

Sure, we ride bikes and chose which bike path we’ll take each time we’re out.  But I also hope we’re all following our own path off the bike as well.  We only get one shot at this thing called life, and it’s so easy to fall into the trap of keeping up with our neighbors and chasing after the dreams of those around us.  I hope this picture inspires you to follow your own path and go after what truly means the most to you.  If you need a constant reminder of this great message, be sure to pick up a copy of this piece so you can see it every single day.

More on Heather Rushton: It’s easy to tell from this artwork that Heather is a positive force in this world and I love seeing people promoting such positive messages through beautiful artwork.  She’s also a full time Mom, painter, and mixed media artist. She’s been creating art her whole life, and studied art in college.  Now she spends her days doing what she loves…and following her own path.  Visit her blog, Facebook Page, or Etsy shop for more on Heather and her artwork.

Enjoy Your Ride

Sugar Alternatives for Energy and Hydration

Question: I am using the homebrew sugar formulations (sometimes added to green tea).  I am also trying to wean myself off 1/2 dose adrenalean “lip tonic delivery system” (biorhythm brand- caffeine, hoodia g, synephrine, yohimbe) capsule for energy.

My question is other than juice, can you suggest modifications in lieu of table sugar for energy and hydration.

Answer:

Both raw/organic honey or agave can work great in the homebrew (substitute in the same quantities for the sugar, or to taste), but you do have to shake well in order to make sure they don’t settle out.  Have you tried either of these?  Also, make sure to use at least the minimum amount of salt recommended in the homebrew as the temps rise, you need the sodium replacement if you’re sweating.
