I Own a Donkey

I’ve talked about it a few times, but never dedicated a post entirely to our donkey, Moonlight Poet.  Yes, our family owns a donkey, and it’s definitely something worthy of a #MakeitHappen Monday post.

People ask me all the time, why do you have a donkey?  Well, the quick answer is….why not?  A little longer answer would be, because I’ve always thought donkeys are cool, and we had the opportunity to buy one.

But the long-form answer includes the fact that we’ll soon be moving to our Caribbean farm and when she’s strong enough, our donkey will help us haul vegetables from the bottom garden up to our house.

Oh, and believe me….when she gets older, I’ll also be riding her.  Yep, I’m going to be that crazy white man who rides his donkey down to the little corner store to pick things up.  If she was a horse, I’d ride her even further.

I’ve lived my life in a way that allows me to vocally say some very awesome things.  To be honest, many times my motivation for accomplishing something is so that I can say that I did it.  Truth.  So yes, I can say….“I Own a Donkey”.  I love it.

What super cool thing do you want to vocally tell the world?  #MakeitHappen

Enjoy Your Ride

Your donkey is adorable! Never thought I’d read a post quite like this one, but, hey, it’s all good. Did not know know you were planning to move to a farm either. Looking forward to following along and hearing more, I hope.

Thanks, Emily……how is your world traveling going? Any chance a Grenada stop is in your future?

Ha! Not sure we qualify as “world” travelers seeing as we’ve been sticking to North America, but it’s going well. We’re loving Mexico but heading back to the US for some family time at the end of April. We do have an anniversary trip planned to the Abacos for late May but Grenada will have to remain on the bucket list for now. Hope to get there one day! 🙂

Hah! That’s awesome. Donkeys like to try and bite me, but I wouldn’t mind owning a horse.

Hey Paul……Moonlight Poet likes to try to nibble, but doesn’t bite. Yeah, I’d like to have a horse as well.

Sugar Alternatives for Energy and Hydration

Question: I am using the homebrew sugar formulations (sometimes added to green tea).  I am also trying to wean myself off 1/2 dose adrenalean “lip tonic delivery system” (biorhythm brand- caffeine, hoodia g, synephrine, yohimbe) capsule for energy.

My question is other than juice, can you suggest modifications in lieu of table sugar for energy and hydration.

Answer:

Both raw/organic honey or agave can work great in the homebrew (substitute in the same quantities for the sugar, or to taste), but you do have to shake well in order to make sure they don’t settle out.  Have you tried either of these?  Also, make sure to use at least the minimum amount of salt recommended in the homebrew as the temps rise, you need the sodium replacement if you’re sweating.
