Kelly, I was like your son, cautious and afraid to fail. Now I see it in my oldest son. I broke out in my 20s. I’m trying to break him FREE before he’s that age. I missed some great opportunities I can’t get back.

My eldest is cautious. Like Kassi, he rarely attempts something new unless he knows he will succeed. He is confident in his strengths and understands his weaknesses. He fears failure. My daughter is the opposite; she doesn’t think before go, go, going….she is secure in her ability and is fearless to the point that – as her mama – she terrifies me sometimes. Each child teaches me something about myself and how I react to fear. Sometimes I am slow to move forward. Other times, it is that fear that drives me to surpassing my personal expectations.

This is a good analysis, Darryl, of the power of fear….we mustn’t let it master us, for sure.
