Make it Happen Monday: Money Man

We’re bred in a world that evolves around the economic control known as the dollar.  Because of this, far too many of us chase after it all our lives…..all the while missing out on some really great moments in life.  You can transform getting money into having a great time by visiting 666casino.  We see the pursuit of money as a necessity in order to obtain that lifestyle we’ve always dreamed of….when in fact it is actually right there in front of you.

There’s a great commercial that used to run for Citi bank.  This bank set itself apart by reminding people that there’s more to life than money.  Their ad that I particularly liked the best shows a bunch of kids dressed up like super-heroes and playing in a backyard.  Then these words flash across the screen….”No kid ever grew up wanting to be Money Man.  I love it.  All their ads really brought home the fact that it doesn’t take a lot of money to live a really great life.

There is nothing at all wrong with being rich or trying hard to obtain great wealth.  But I do think it is wise to never lose track of life in the process.  Happiness cannot be bought…..The greatest pleasures in life really are free.

Money never made a man happy yet, nor will it. There is nothing in its nature to produce happiness. The more a man has, the more he wants. Instead of filling a vacuum, it makes one.”

Benjamin Franklin

I have a feeling that most of you reading this didn’t want to be Money Man (or Woman) growing up…..y’all wanted to be Super Cycle, right?  If you’re cool with sharing, let us know what (or who) you wanted to be when you were younger.

I wanted to be Captain America because he rode a motorcycle. Guess I’ve always been drawn to 2-wheelers.

        Maybe you are right.

The subject of your post today really hits close to home.  I can say I grew up trying to please others, doing what others thought I should, in as sense, following the dreams others thought I should have.  All I’ve ever wanted to do was make people happy and feel good about themselves.  If someone suggested I do something, more than likely I would, if I wanted to or not.  My motive was just to please.  Still, I never seemed to make anyone around me very happy.  In fact, quite the opposite.  For a long time I blamed others for my lot in life.  I was naive enough to think they were the reason for my failures.  I realize now, no one ever wanted me to do anything other than follow my passions, my dreams.  I understand others were saying I could do what ever I chose, and they were frustrated because I never saw any potential within myself.  I struggle daily with doubt, criticism and financial pressure, yet I’ve never felt more alive.  I am being exactly what I wanted to be when I was a kid.  I am following my passions, my dreams, working to motivate and inspire change, to help people live a healthy, happy life.  Am I rich, not if you mean money in the bank, nor do I ever expect to have a lot.  The wealth I experience when I make a complete stranger laugh out loud with a snort though, or the “thank you’s” I receive through email because someone read one of my blog posts and decided to ride a bike again, that’s the stuff in life no amount of money can buy.   When that happens, I AM the richest man alive.  I have no regrets.  The mistakes I’ve made and struggles I’ve endured have led me exactly where I want to be and have prepared me well for what it’s going to take to be able to stay.  I don’t ever expect it to be easy, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

        Happy Riding Darryl

There you go. Joel, you are the first Millionaire that I have known personally….and you’re the best kind of Millionaire. Keep on doing what you’re doing and keep on being the light that attracts others to be more like you. You’ve once again taught me something with your wisdom….thanks, my man.

I love that message. I’ve always wondered how creative commercials like that get stormed up at corporate HQ like Citi Bank…pretty brilliant.

When I was a kid I always wanted to be the post office guy delivering the mail. He seemed like a super hero to me. Strange, huh?

Thanks Jim….you would have made a fantastic postal delivery super hero.

Sugar Alternatives for Energy and Hydration

Question: I am using the homebrew sugar formulations (sometimes added to green tea).  I am also trying to wean myself off 1/2 dose adrenalean “lip tonic delivery system” (biorhythm brand- caffeine, hoodia g, synephrine, yohimbe) capsule for energy.

My question is other than juice, can you suggest modifications in lieu of table sugar for energy and hydration.

Answer:

Both raw/organic honey or agave can work great in the homebrew (substitute in the same quantities for the sugar, or to taste), but you do have to shake well in order to make sure they don’t settle out.  Have you tried either of these?  Also, make sure to use at least the minimum amount of salt recommended in the homebrew as the temps rise, you need the sodium replacement if you’re sweating.
