I’ve left Canada and spent last night back in the beautiful State of Texas.  We spent two years living in Austin, but last night was my first time ever in Houston. This morning I am off to Belize….Central America’s only country where English is the official language. I’m not going on a vacation….I’m not going...

Bikes Are Crushing It Online

2010 has quickly become a great big year for bikes in the online world.  First, Yahoo sponsors a pro cycling team and then Google this week announces they have added biking directions to Google Maps…at least for U.S. searches.  On top of this, the use of social media by pro cyclists has continued to...

Fit To Get Fitted

When I upgraded to my new Trek Madone last April, one of the things I was hoping to get out of it was a spectacular fit that provided me with hour upon hour of comfort to go along with increased performance from the bike.  It’s been a great road bike, and really can’t complain...

Inhale exhale inhale exhale inhale exhale….Red light.  Traffic traffic, cars, buses, people.  Green light and off again.  Simplicity in motion…a guy, a backpack, a mountain bike.  The life of a bicycle commuter.  No other means of transportation available…none other necessary. Close your eyes and picture this person for a second.  What do they look...

Why I…

I read a nice article the other week entitled, #whyweride which highlighted a twitter discussion on the topic. It was great to see all the different responses to why those individuals ride a bike. I find it very interesting to see why other people love cycling so much and what it is that motivates...

Sugar Alternatives for Energy and Hydration

Question: I am using the homebrew sugar formulations (sometimes added to green tea).  I am also trying to wean myself off 1/2 dose adrenalean “lip tonic delivery system” (biorhythm brand- caffeine, hoodia g, synephrine, yohimbe) capsule for energy.

My question is other than juice, can you suggest modifications in lieu of table sugar for energy and hydration.

Answer:

Both raw/organic honey or agave can work great in the homebrew (substitute in the same quantities for the sugar, or to taste), but you do have to shake well in order to make sure they don’t settle out.  Have you tried either of these?  Also, make sure to use at least the minimum amount of salt recommended in the homebrew as the temps rise, you need the sodium replacement if you’re sweating.
