Great post, I remember watching Casartelli's fall, and Lances tribute stage win later in the tour. It was amazing, and even if a helmet wouldn't have helped in his situation, it very easily could have for many others. Saying that you don't wear a seatbelt because it wouldn't help in some crashes. Wouldn't it make sense to wear it for the times that it will? Anyway, I try not to judge or pressure anyone in any way because it is their free will. Casartelli's fall, and Lances tribute stage win later in the tour.
Beautifully written. I had never really watched a professional race (my husband watches the Tour de France every year), but I decided to watch the Giro this year since my interest has increased. I have to say I am in awe of the sport. Truly in awe. From how closely the peloton rides together to how they dig deep to complete those unbelievable mountain climbs. And I worry about hills. When I saw the aftermath of the crash, I was deeply saddened for his family, friends and teammates. Thank you for this story. (@avewave)
