Mental Preparation for the Ride
In my opinion, the most important ingredient for performance on the bike is Mental Preparation. Of course it is….the brain is the most powerful thing we have so it’s really the starting point of making it happen. Making anything happen. Everything in life is created first in the mind, and then again in reality…..and...

Electronic Free Day…on and off the Bike
Quite a while ago our Family decided to make Sundays an electronic free day, meaning we wouldn’t use the TV, Computer, Phone, or any other similar device. The Happy Gene
If I had “the happy gene”, I wouldn’t personally need these Make it Happen Monday posts to fire me up each week. But unfortunately I don’t have it. I honestly feel that some of us are born with DNA that makes us ultimately happy-go-lucky and are able to smile through each and every day....

Sugar Alternatives for Energy and Hydration
Question: I am using the homebrew sugar formulations (sometimes added to green tea). I am also trying to wean myself off 1/2 dose adrenalean ”lip tonic delivery system” (biorhythm brand- caffeine, hoodia g, synephrine, yohimbe) capsule for energy.
My question is other than juice, can you suggest modifications in lieu of table sugar for energy and hydration.
Answer:
Both raw/organic honey or agave can work great in the homebrew (substitute in the same quantities for the sugar, or to taste), but you do have to shake well in order to make sure they don’t settle out. Have you tried either of these? Also, make sure to use at least the minimum amount of salt recommended in the homebrew as the temps rise, you need the sodium replacement if you’re sweating.
