Ascend Sportswear Creates a Cycling Masterpiece

Don’t you just love a hot new cycling jersey?  It’s even better when it’s got custom graphics to show off your new bicycle café.

I must say that I’m wildly impressed by the crew over at Ascend Sportswear and the jersey they designed for Mocha Spoke.

Mocha Spoke Cycling Jersey Grenada

It all started with an e-mail from Ascend’s President, Brian Devens.  He asked if they could create a custom jersey for Loving the Bike and send it to me to check out.  I told them that the design done by our very own Stevie Dexter was totally Rockstar and we weren’t in need of a new design, but that I’d be interested in having one done for our new bicycle café.

What they came up with was super cool and I think it fits in with Grenada and Mocha Spoke quite well.  They even included the Loving the Bike logo on the sleeves as well.  Nice touch.

As far as jerseys go, it fits great and looks wonderful.  If I had to pick on thing to change, I might make the back pockets just slightly bigger….but it’s fine how it is.  The fact that I take an XS in their jerseys probably plays a big part in the size of the pockets as well.  Yeah, I wasn’t going to admit it…but for the first time ever I’m fitting into an XS.  Yikes.  But keep this in mind and be sure to check their sizing chart when placing your order with Ascend.

We’ll definitely be doing a run of more jerseys to sell to customers and fans of our bicycle café….and have already had a bunch of people asking where to get them.  But we’ll also be using Ascend for our 2013 Loving the Bike Kits as well.  Yes, I was that impressed.

We’ll be posting information on the 2013 Kits, Arm Warmers, and Socks this afternoon.

If you’re looking to create your own custom jerseys, bibs, or any other cycling apparel…..talk to the guys at Ascend Sportswear.

That’s a nice looking jersey, Darryl. How is the riding in Grenada?

The riding has been good. Lots of road cycling and quite a bit of off road as well.

They did a great job with that jersey. Are you going to be selling these and getting bibs? I’d be interested in ordering one from you. I already have the loving the bike kit.

Possibly….keep an eye out and we’ll announce jersey and/or kit sales if we decide to do it.

Sugar Alternatives for Energy and Hydration

Question: I am using the homebrew sugar formulations (sometimes added to green tea).  I am also trying to wean myself off 1/2 dose adrenalean “lip tonic delivery system” (biorhythm brand- caffeine, hoodia g, synephrine, yohimbe) capsule for energy.

My question is other than juice, can you suggest modifications in lieu of table sugar for energy and hydration.

Answer:

Both raw/organic honey or agave can work great in the homebrew (substitute in the same quantities for the sugar, or to taste), but you do have to shake well in order to make sure they don’t settle out.  Have you tried either of these?  Also, make sure to use at least the minimum amount of salt recommended in the homebrew as the temps rise, you need the sodium replacement if you’re sweating.
