My little girl has made her Daddy so proud.  Following last week’s LiveSTRONG Challenge where I rode in honor and memory of my Wife’s cousin, Jordan, Kassidy took it upon herself to write this post. Wow, I’m so excited to share this with you.

Jordan.

My mom’s cousin.

He died at the age 15.

September 26 2007.

He had cancer.


Jordan.

He was brave.

He suffered a pain that cannot be explained or imagined.

His family suffered every step of the way, along with him.


Jordan.

Strong.  Courageous.

I knew cancer was bad.

Everybody does.

But knowing someone who died from it, makes you realize, cancer is not bad, it’s horrible.

I have only met him twice, that I remember, and yet, I want to be just like Jordan.

I want his strength; his courage.

We should all be more like Jordan.

To everyone out there reading this, please do anything you can to END cancer.

    Thank you for sharing this with us. I lost an aunt to cancer when I was a teenager and I watched her suffer. Twenty five years later and I still remember her and the way she fought through her illness. Some things stick with you forever and Kassi’s piece does a great job of showing that.

    You are my precious angel. Your writings are beautiful. The comment Eric made about good writers make you feel is so true. When I read your post all the good memories of Jordan went thru my mind once again. We will never forget him and thank you for reminding us all what a brave young man he truly was.     Nice job with something that is really tough to write about. A lot of times people feel like they need to fill up space with words to say something important. I believe that some times the extra words get in the way of what you are trying to say.
    Good writers make people “feel” something when they read. You have made me feel the pain and sadness for Jordon and his family. I know that he was loved and that he was strong and brave.

Sugar Alternatives for Energy and Hydration

Question: I am using the homebrew sugar formulations (sometimes added to green tea).  I am also trying to wean myself off 1/2 dose adrenalean ”lip tonic delivery system” (biorhythm brand- caffeine, hoodia g, synephrine, yohimbe) capsule for energy.

My question is other than juice, can you suggest modifications in lieu of table sugar for energy and hydration.

Answer:

Both raw/organic honey or agave can work great in the homebrew (substitute in the same quantities for the sugar, or to taste), but you do have to shake well in order to make sure they don’t settle out.  Have you tried either of these?  Also, make sure to use at least the minimum amount of salt recommended in the homebrew as the temps rise, you need the sodium replacement if you’re sweating.
