My Baby Loves The Tour

I don’t mean to strap you down and force our Loving the Bike Family home movies on you….but I just couldn’t resist on this one.  My 16 month old Baby Boy, River is obsessed with bikes.  Yeah, being a cycling Dad….this is a nice problem to have.  He’s constantly all over one of my bikes and although he isn’t talking too many words right now, there is no mistaking what he means when he shouts out “Bah”.

Not only does he love the bikes we have around the house, but with us having coverage of the Tour de France on each day we’ve found out that he loves watching this as well.  Have a look at this cute little video I put together of River and his love for The Tour…and the “Bah”.

Give yourself a bit more credit here Darryl.  You spoke of families on Make it Happen Monday and asked, “Take a minute and give yourself credit for all you have achieved in your family”.  What I see River doing is a reaction to watching his family go for a bike ride on the TV.  I see the positive influence having a father share his passions with his son.  I see the beginnings of a child that will be passionate about life and whatever he does.  I see you providing your son with a tremendous advantage in life.  Thank you for sharing such an intimate glimpse into your life…….and I still think it is cute.

If only they knew, the bikers, what an ardent supporter they have, they’d put even more heart into it :-). So very cute!

Great comment…..thanks for this, Daniela.  It would be very cool if the riders could see his obsession for what they do.

That is just awesome, Darryl!  Little River sure has good taste in what hobbies and tv shows he likes 🙂  I hope when I have kids someday that they want to ride and watch the TDF with their mom and dad the way River does.  Thanks for sharing!  And thanks to River for already Loving the “Bah” 😉

I’ll tell River you liked it.  Yes, it’s very cool to see him so excited about “Bah’s” and The Tour.

Sugar Alternatives for Energy and Hydration

Question: I am using the homebrew sugar formulations (sometimes added to green tea).  I am also trying to wean myself off 1/2 dose adrenalean “lip tonic delivery system” (biorhythm brand- caffeine, hoodia g, synephrine, yohimbe) capsule for energy.

My question is other than juice, can you suggest modifications in lieu of table sugar for energy and hydration.

Answer:

Both raw/organic honey or agave can work great in the homebrew (substitute in the same quantities for the sugar, or to taste), but you do have to shake well in order to make sure they don’t settle out.  Have you tried either of these?  Also, make sure to use at least the minimum amount of salt recommended in the homebrew as the temps rise, you need the sodium replacement if you’re sweating.
