UPDATE: Thanks to our awesome readers and Mocha Spoke customers, we’ve exceeded our goal.  More information HERE.

I don’t often ask for your help, but that’s exactly what I’m doing right now.  Our Mocha Spoke taxi man has brain cancer and needs to get over to Trinidad by Monday in order to have a doctor help him.  Without this trip, he is guaranteed not to survive.

Keith is a great guy and has been an excellent help in our bicycle tour business working as our pick up and delivery man.  He’s always friendly and on time, and treats our guests exactly the way we want him to.

He has already raised funds for his medical treatment, but needs another $300 to cover the remaining cost of his flight.

Here’s a short message from Keith himself….I sure hope you can help.  Just click the donate button and submit whatever amount you’re able to send.  On behalf of Keith and Mocha Spoke, I thank you for your support.

Sugar Alternatives for Energy and Hydration

Question: I am using the homebrew sugar formulations (sometimes added to green tea).  I am also trying to wean myself off 1/2 dose adrenalean “lip tonic delivery system” (biorhythm brand- caffeine, hoodia g, synephrine, yohimbe) capsule for energy.

My question is other than juice, can you suggest modifications in lieu of table sugar for energy and hydration.

Answer:

Both raw/organic honey or agave can work great in the homebrew (substitute in the same quantities for the sugar, or to taste), but you do have to shake well in order to make sure they don’t settle out.  Have you tried either of these?  Also, make sure to use at least the minimum amount of salt recommended in the homebrew as the temps rise, you need the sodium replacement if you’re sweating.
