World Bike Costs

Sure, the price tag on a fancy new road bike can be pretty steep….but we all know how it is so worth it, right?  But the price of bikes got me to thinking….How does the price of my bike compare to what it costs other people around the world to buy that same bike?

With certain bike models being sold with different components in different locations, it’s a little tough to compare apples to apples.  But for each Country, we tried to get pricing of similar components for each of the same model.  Below is the average cost and availability of three different 2011 bike models (Trek Madone 5.9Specialized Tarmac Pro, and Moots YBB 26).

I knew I forgot something. Next time I’ll include Uncle Vinny’s Garage in the mix as well.

This is great information. It illustrates why I try and get my bike stuff from the States especially with the dollar close to parity.

Yeah, it’s hard to believe that the two countries are so close and the prices so different.
