Get out of jail free card for cyclists

My buddy….and Mocha Spoke business partner, Marc DeCaul is a superstar triathlete who definitely knows all about cycling.  Growing up on the Caribbean island of Grenada has also taught him about the importance of carrying a “Get Out of Jail Free” card with him while on the road.

In this video, Marc explains what this lingo of his means and how it can help keep you safe while cycling.  You’re going to dig his accent…..and when he talks about leaving room on the left hand side, just change that over to the right for most of you.  You see, we drive on the left hand side of the road here.

Enjoy….and let us know if you need us to mail you a Get Out of Jail Free card.

Enjoy Your Ride

YAHHHHH, I loved it. Love the accent, makes me feel right at home. And I completely agree with the concept. You have to ALWAYS be thinking about your choices and the softest place to land. Kept me out of trouble many many years on St Croix (except those 3 times :). Man Darryl Pamelas tour has me hopping and I havent been around much but I am going to look around now and check up on my 2nd favorite site!

Yeah, you know all about the get out of jail free card Eric. I think people like us who cycle in the Caribbean need to carry more than one of these on each ride.

Ha! I get it. The joke is that, as a cyclist, if you get hit then you’re going to jail. Or at least you’ll wake up in a hospital bed with a police officer writing you a ticket for “riding two abreast” with the car that just right-hooked you (or in Marc’s case, left-hooked.) So you’ve got to have a last-ditch option to avoid being hit in the first place. Good advice.

Sugar Alternatives for Energy and Hydration

Question: I am using the homebrew sugar formulations (sometimes added to green tea).  I am also trying to wean myself off 1/2 dose adrenalean “lip tonic delivery system” (biorhythm brand- caffeine, hoodia g, synephrine, yohimbe) capsule for energy.

My question is other than juice, can you suggest modifications in lieu of table sugar for energy and hydration.

Answer:

Both raw/organic honey or agave can work great in the homebrew (substitute in the same quantities for the sugar, or to taste), but you do have to shake well in order to make sure they don’t settle out.  Have you tried either of these?  Also, make sure to use at least the minimum amount of salt recommended in the homebrew as the temps rise, you need the sodium replacement if you’re sweating.
