Monarchs in my Stomach

You’ve heard of having butterflies in your stomach, but what I’ve got is a serious case of Monarchs in mine.

If having butterflies is in response to being nervous or anxious about something, then having Monarch butterflies is what happens when you’re about to kick it up Rockstar style and totally Make it Happen.  Oh, and Monarch butterflies are also unable to survive in cold weather and migrate south each year so they can escape the coldness……very applicable to me and my life I must say.

My Family and I are heading off on an awesome adventure on November 2 and as it approaches I’ll slowly be laying down more and more details on it all.  That way I can drop the news in bite sized pieces, and also (hopefully) keep you coming back for more information on it all.  Anyway, with all of this coming together and happening oh so fast….I’m finding myself totally fired up, alive, and dealing with that sensation in my stomach.

This isn’t the first time I’ve felt the Monarchs.  They always seem to come when I’m at the upper scale of my excitement level.  I used to feel it when I was younger and on my way to the river for some waterskiing.  I felt it on the day I got married.  I felt it when my kids were born.  And, I definitely feel it before each and every big ride.

As I look back, it becomes very apparent that the Monarch butterflies have come when I’m really making it happen, and vibrating at my most positive level.  They come at the times when I’m living….and not just simply passing time.  You’ll often catch me saying that over here at Loving the Bike it’s about living life to the fullest….on and off the bike.  Well, that’s how it’s feeling right now.

Okay, so as I write this with the intention of kickstarting your week with another Make it Happen Monday post….I hope that you too will grab hold of your dreams, move forward in making it reality, and have those Monarchs enter your stomach as well.  Let’s do this.

Sugar Alternatives for Energy and Hydration

Question: I am using the homebrew sugar formulations (sometimes added to green tea).  I am also trying to wean myself off 1/2 dose adrenalean “lip tonic delivery system” (biorhythm brand- caffeine, hoodia g, synephrine, yohimbe) capsule for energy.

My question is other than juice, can you suggest modifications in lieu of table sugar for energy and hydration.

Both raw/organic honey or agave can work great in the homebrew (substitute in the same quantities for the sugar, or to taste), but you do have to shake well in order to make sure they don’t settle out.  Have you tried either of these?  Also, make sure to use at least the minimum amount of salt recommended in the homebrew as the temps rise, you need the sodium replacement if you’re sweating.
