Crank Down the Intensity

I’ve been on a major personal development frenzy for the past couple weeks.  I’ve had some incredible insights, gained some knowledge, and the realization that there are still more areas to work on. Loving the BITE: 3 Favorite Healthy Chocolate-Rich Recipes

This time of year, as my sometimes over-scheduled Holiday plans ramp up, the weather cools, sunlight hours decrease, and I’m in-between my favorite sports (too much snow and cold for mountain biking but not yet enough for AT skiing – it’s a hard-knock life, I know), sometimes I need a little homemade pick-me-up. As...

Happy to be Here For the Ride

A thought crossed my mind today.  A thought that has somehow never consciously crossed it before. “What would have happened if my Parents had decided to only have one kid?”  Well, the simple answer was that I wouldn’t be here to worry about those consequences. However, upon more thought….I took it further.  What if...

Loving the BITE: Amazing Antioxidant Lemon Pepper Chicken

One of the simplest ingredients in your kitchen could have one of the biggest impacts in your body. We’re talking SIMPLE. Downright ordinary. Black Peppercorns. In case you didn’t know, I’m usually a go big or go home sort of person, sort of nutritionist, so we’re going WHOLE peppercorns in the recipe.  It’s an...

Sugar Alternatives for Energy and Hydration

Question: I am using the homebrew sugar formulations (sometimes added to green tea).  I am also trying to wean myself off 1/2 dose adrenalean “lip tonic delivery system” (biorhythm brand- caffeine, hoodia g, synephrine, yohimbe) capsule for energy.

My question is other than juice, can you suggest modifications in lieu of table sugar for energy and hydration.

Answer:

Both raw/organic honey or agave can work great in the homebrew (substitute in the same quantities for the sugar, or to taste), but you do have to shake well in order to make sure they don’t settle out.  Have you tried either of these?  Also, make sure to use at least the minimum amount of salt recommended in the homebrew as the temps rise, you need the sodium replacement if you’re sweating.
