Yes, it’s those situations where you find yourself doing something different.  It’s about feeling good and enjoying life.  That feeling of, “man, do I...

April 22, 2015

We all need reminders, right?  Well, I know I sure do.  This week it came to me courtesy of my man, Passenger in his song called “Life’s For the Living”. It sure did put the whole world back in perspective once again….at least until the next time. Have a watch, and then get out...

Beautiful Earth Day 2015

Loving the BITE: Sourdough for Pre-Ride Nutrition

Some foods are special. Some have characteristics that go far beyond numbers of calories, carbs, protein, and fats.  In fact, most real, whole, raw, and traditional ones do (it’s those made-in-factory ones that are little more than a pile of calories). One such food, one of my favorites, is sourdough bread.  Although I eat...

Would You Buy a Bike Online?

Have you ever purchased a bike online?  Ten years ago, this might have seemed like a strange thing to do….but in today’s online world it pretty darn normal. I haven’t done it for a personal bike, but I did once buy a fleet of 12 Jamis mountain bikes with an online purchase…..so I guess you...

Sugar Alternatives for Energy and Hydration

Question: I am using the homebrew sugar formulations (sometimes added to green tea).  I am also trying to wean myself off 1/2 dose adrenalean “lip tonic delivery system” (biorhythm brand- caffeine, hoodia g, synephrine, yohimbe) capsule for energy.

My question is other than juice, can you suggest modifications in lieu of table sugar for energy and hydration.

Answer:

Both raw/organic honey or agave can work great in the homebrew (substitute in the same quantities for the sugar, or to taste), but you do have to shake well in order to make sure they don’t settle out.  Have you tried either of these?  Also, make sure to use at least the minimum amount of salt recommended in the homebrew as the temps rise, you need the sodium replacement if you’re sweating.
