Families are Making it Happen…Every Day

Each and every day….all around the world…..Families are in motion.  It honestly amazes me how on a daily basis a Family can get themselves ready, get the kids off to school, and the Parents to work…..all the while never missing a beat. Add in some personal time for cycling, or other activity and all...

Electronic Free Day…on and off the Bike

Quite a while ago our Family decided to make Sundays an electronic free day, meaning we wouldn’t use the TV, Computer, Phone, or any other similar device.  We’re not generally electronic obsessed, but for this one day a week we make sure to keep them off and totally focus on quality Family time. It’s...

Locking Up the Whole Family

I’m so proud to be part of a riding Family, and thanks to the cool cats over at Kryptonite Locks we can now be ultra protected when locking up our bikes. When me and my Family head out on our bikes there are four of us riding and also the Chariot trailer that I...

Family and Bikes…The Rest is Just Stuff

Yeah, it’s true.  There really are only two things that matter to me…..my Family, and Cycling.  Seriously, if I could fill my days with nothing other than these two things I would consider myself an utter success.  My Family and the Bike matter so much to me, that I’ve spent the past few years...

Disney’s Cycling Adventure Park

December 3, 2010

We’re spending today at the Magic Kingdom in celebration of my Son Indie’s 5th Birthday.  Yeah, how cool is that?  There can’t be any better place to celebrate your birthday than Disney World when you’re a kid.   Anyway, it got me to thinking about the best possible place to spend your birthday when...

My First

My First

I had always thought my first bike was a tiny little purple thing with training wheels because that is as far back as my memory takes me.  I’m not sure why, but I had never gotten around to asking my Parents if that really was my first bike or if there were bikes prior...

Super Dad’s….and Families

June 18, 2010

With Father’s Day just a couple of days away, I wanted to post about the Super Dads out there.  You know, the ones who successfully juggle being a role model to their kids, a caring and compassionate family member, hard worker, playful, inspiring, leader….and the list goes on and on.  All that, and of...

With a huge event like the birth of our third child happening this week, of course I just had to blog about it.  So here I am.  My son, River, was born at 7:23AM Wednesday morning….and just started his training for the 2030 Tour de France.  You gotta start ‘em young these days.  Seriously though,...

Sugar Alternatives for Energy and Hydration

Question: I am using the homebrew sugar formulations (sometimes added to green tea).  I am also trying to wean myself off 1/2 dose adrenalean “lip tonic delivery system” (biorhythm brand- caffeine, hoodia g, synephrine, yohimbe) capsule for energy.

My question is other than juice, can you suggest modifications in lieu of table sugar for energy and hydration.

Answer:

Both raw/organic honey or agave can work great in the homebrew (substitute in the same quantities for the sugar, or to taste), but you do have to shake well in order to make sure they don’t settle out.  Have you tried either of these?  Also, make sure to use at least the minimum amount of salt recommended in the homebrew as the temps rise, you need the sodium replacement if you’re sweating.
