February 19, 2010
By

For today’s post I’m going visual.  Even though I’ve only got a few posts under my belt, I wanted to mix it up and throw out a video instead of some writing.  The topic for the video is five things you can do when you aren’t able to get on the bike.  I hope...

Why I think Every Cyclist is a Champion

February 10, 2010
By

I am Strong. I am Powerful. I will Overcome. I am a Champion. This isn’t just some crazy mantra from one of those cults you read about in magazines. This is something that if said to ourselves every day, and believed….would not only change our lives….but our cycling as well. That’s right. How many...

One of my favorite cycling memories

On the South East tip of St. Kitts, West Indies is a stretch of land known as The Peninsula.  A paved road was built in 1989 to make this area accessible, and it now allow people to drive along a stretch of road through untapped nature.  Miles of beautiful, natural scenery.  This 10KM section...

Sugar Alternatives for Energy and Hydration

Question: I am using the homebrew sugar formulations (sometimes added to green tea).  I am also trying to wean myself off 1/2 dose adrenalean “lip tonic delivery system” (biorhythm brand- caffeine, hoodia g, synephrine, yohimbe) capsule for energy.

My question is other than juice, can you suggest modifications in lieu of table sugar for energy and hydration.

Answer:

Both raw/organic honey or agave can work great in the homebrew (substitute in the same quantities for the sugar, or to taste), but you do have to shake well in order to make sure they don’t settle out.  Have you tried either of these?  Also, make sure to use at least the minimum amount of salt recommended in the homebrew as the temps rise, you need the sodium replacement if you’re sweating.
