I’m a Fake

Well, not totally a fake…..but a fake none-the-less.  I come out here every Monday with a “Make it Happen” post intended to motivate and inspire all of you.  But in reality, it’s often me who needs an attitude adjustment more than anyone. I guess you could call it ironic.  On one hand I feel...

What Inspires You?

November 26, 2012
By

I think it’s safe to say that inspiration and motivation are basically synonymous words that work together to help each and every one of us make it happen. If this is so, what are the ingredients that go into the whole inspiration/motivation melting pot?  Hold on a minute, don’t answer that quite yet. Each...

Do It Now

We all know of Nike’s famous tagline…Just Do It, but for today’s Make it Happen Monday post I wanted to encourage you all to Do It Now. One of the best pieces of wisdom I have ever received in my life came from a random person in an unexpected situation.  It must have been...

Make it Happen Monday: Operation Opportunity

April 9, 2012
By

At one point in my life I was faced with a decision, and the wisdom that was provided to me was “Always Walk in the Direction of Opportunity”.  That statement has stuck with me these past 12 or so years and it’s been the reasoning behind my move to St. Kitts, my first move...

#bikeschool: Because I can!

As many of you will remember I spent a week in July at Le Tour with @SteamyWynndows & @AndyMWild and as a result of that trip, ended up the proud owner of a limited edition Team Sky jersey signed by the riders. Since returning from the Tour I’ve been determined to make that Sky...

Make it Happen Monday: If I Knew…

October 31, 2011
By

If I knew I had exactly 25 years to live, I’d be intent on living them well. I’m sure many times during those years, I would lose sight of time. And slip into a regular routine. If I knew I had 10 years to live, initially I would be quite concerned. I would make...

#bikeschool: Every day is a school day

August 9, 2011

As some of you may be aware I took part in a bike race on Sunday… my first race in 26 years! I’ve been cycling for a few years now and I’m a terribly competitive little so-and-so, which made me realise I was ready to step my cycling up a level. This week’s...

Sugar Alternatives for Energy and Hydration

Question: I am using the homebrew sugar formulations (sometimes added to green tea).  I am also trying to wean myself off 1/2 dose adrenalean “lip tonic delivery system” (biorhythm brand- caffeine, hoodia g, synephrine, yohimbe) capsule for energy.

My question is other than juice, can you suggest modifications in lieu of table sugar for energy and hydration.

Answer:

Both raw/organic honey or agave can work great in the homebrew (substitute in the same quantities for the sugar, or to taste), but you do have to shake well in order to make sure they don’t settle out.  Have you tried either of these?  Also, make sure to use at least the minimum amount of salt recommended in the homebrew as the temps rise, you need the sodium replacement if you’re sweating.
