Hardest Review Ever

For the past month I have tried to sit down and lay out a review of two different products…..Action Wipes and CarboRocket.

Both of these companies sent me samples of their products for the purpose of reviewing it on this website, and although this has been super tough for me I am finally going to honor that agreement.

If you’ve never heard of them before, I can say this…Action Wipes are “natural, full body wet wipes, for when you can’t shower” and CarboRocket is an “all-natural sports drink for your hydration and nutrition needs”.

You see, I am totally committed to giving my complete and honest opinion of the products I review…..It’s part of my nature and so it is the only way for me. It’s also in my nature to be nice.  Hey, I’m Canadian….aren’t we all like that?  But seriously, I like to be nice and I have a hard time acting any other way.  Now the reason doing these two reviews have been insanely difficult for me is exactly because of these two traits….Honesty and Nicey Nice.

So for the past month I’ve sat at my computer trying to figure out how I am going to tackle this, and what I’ve decided to do is leave this review to you, the reader. These two products may not be for me, but I am just one opinion.  Let me know what you think of them. Be honest now.

Darryl, Word what Martha said about honest feedback. I’ve found people are scared or reluctant to tell me exactly what they think about my product. Sure, I love positive feedback but who doesn’t? The warm fuzzies don’t promote growth or positive change. What I like even more is the negative review that is followed with a suggestion. So, give it to me straight and shoot me an email so I can continue to improve.

That being said, thanks, asmathews and Marc in Co. for the warm fuzzies! I always need those on a Monday.

There is such a thing as “Full Body Wipes” – golleeeee. Who’d have thunk it!!

So, you do know your review was no review, right? – way to pass the buck. I would’ve appreciated your feedback as well. (You’ve got kids, so tell me – is Action Wipes a kid friendly product from your perspective. Is it the sorta thing for me to pack when I hit the outdoors with the kiddies? or should I stick with spray bottles and wash cloths? Is it environmentally friendly?)

One of my all time favorite things to live by is a quote by Dr. Wayne Dyer “When you have the choice to be right or to be kind, choose to be kind. Choose kindness”, so that’s what I thought of your non-review. It’s ok to choose to be kind, that’s why everyone loves Canada – that and Alanis Morissette.

Hahahahaha, thanks Lee. I can count on you to give it to me straight. Yes, Action Wipes would be great for the kids. That was one of the angles I was thinking of taking on this post, but I wanted to keep it focused on cycling and how the products worked from that perspective.
I have used them with my kids and I like the fact that they are made from natural ingredients and can also be washed and re-used. They are much, much better than traditional baby wipes.
Thanks for dropping in and leaving your comments.

Anything worth doing is worth doing right, right? Well CarboRocket is that way. CarboRocket is definitely worth using(doing) or at a minimum trying. I am a huge fan of CarboRocket and enjoy the mild flavor and the fact that I have no stomach issues after using it like I used to with “ade” style drinks. They all seemed to sweat and just not very appealing on a hard ride. The energy from CarboRockket is appropriate with no rush and crash. CarboRocket provides quick and steady fuel…. not a rush and crash like some off the shelf energy drinks. As far as the mixing goes this is where doing things “right” comes in. I have no problems with clumping. The last thing I want is a clump of anything shooting out of or plugging my bottle 3 miles into an 8% grade well into zone 4 and hitting 5 on the HRM….. how do you solve this? Simple, add CarboRocket to an empty water bottle… take about 5 seconds to fill it up while swirling it around. It really is that simple. Take your time and do it “right” and CarboRocket will reward you by mixing well, hydrating well and providing ample fuel for your ride. As far as ratios go I use 4 level scoops in a 24oz bottle.

    Enjoy the ride!

I think I understand where lovingthebike is coming from. I tried CarboRocket about four times and it never mixed very well for me. I kept getting a bunch of it left over and hardened together at the bottom of the bottle. I think because it didn’t mix well I didn’t get much out of it when I drank it.
    I haven’t tried Action Wipes.

I use both Action Wipes and CarboRocket.

Action Wipes: I’ve only used them a couple of times so far. Significantly better than baby wipes. I felt refreshed and clean after doing a hilly century ride. I wish I had the wipes the time I stopped to ride in the middle of a long road trip because the baby wipes just didn’t cut it.

CarboRocket: Once I figured out the right ratio of mix to water for, it has worked well. I like the fact that it is all natural and that the taste is mild. I haven’t had any stomach issues while drinking the stuff for several hours.

    I use Action Wipes…

I am nor a road bike racer, I am simply an average Joe who commutes to work by bicycle. I join in on some MTN. bike rides here and there. I use an action wipe every time I bike to work. It is awesome, and I haven’t found another product like it. It is very refreshing. When I’m finished, I place it back into the wrapper and leave it on my desk. The smell is very nice.. When I have a few I add them to the laundry, and my kids use them after playing outside. I have also stashed a few in my car, my camping gear and my tackle box.

Hey Darryl – I love honesty, it helps us to refine our product(s), process and customer service as we grow. I like hearing what people like and don’t like, it’s the only way we can work on our weaknesses and fortify our strengths. So thank you. Let’s see what kind of feedback we get…

Thanks Martha, I wish the best for you guys over at Action Wipes. Like I said in the post, they might not be something that I require at this point in time, but I’m glad that other people have been leaving their comments to help inform others about how it works for them.
