12 Days into 2015
I didn’t watch the ball drop. I never had a beer, wine, or Champaign. In fact I never even made it to Midnight. Here I am sitting 12 whole days into the new year, and to be honest, December 31 now seems far enough away that it’s like it never even happened.
I may not care too much about the yearly celebrations held to ring in the new year. I also don’t take part in the whole New Year’s resolution thing, countdown to midnight, and kissing people as the new year rings in. But I do love what comes along with New Years Eve. It’s like #MakeitHappen mayhem being celebrated around the world…..if for only a moment.
One of the things I like best about the end of each year is all the compiled lists to culminate the past 365 days. You know, the greatest hits of 2014….the best dressed of the year…the most exciting moments of the decade. It’s like a reflection of all the greatest things that happened throughout the year.
I also like the idea of resolutions, even though I may not take part in them specifically at that time of year. What better time to take a look at your life and make the commitment to create a better you?
And then there is the celebration. It’s not your birthday, your anniversary, or your retirement….but you’re out there having a great time in honor of just another day.
Reflect on your day, your week, your life…..regularly. Commit to making yourself continuously better. Celebrate the day. Live your life like it’s New Years every day. Ride Your Bike. #MakeitHappen.
May 2015 be your best yet.
True to that! It is important to remind all the good that happen to us and cherish it.
I agree with you. Commercialism aside, it is still a very healthy thing to take time and reflect on what was good about the previous year. And to set goals for the next. When we love day to day our attention is often focused on what is hard and what is bad that needs fixing, it’s so important to see the good and be grateful.
