I’m a little late getting this post up, but seeing as I had access to some incredible photos by Jessica Alexander…I wanted to put up a quick post on the 2011 North American Cycle Courier Championships (NACCC) held in Austin a week ago.

The NACCC happens each year and is a weekend full of bike racing, parties, messenger bags….and apparently tattoos.  The event is put on to celebrate the hard work that bike couriers do and bring them all together to showcase their industry and talent.  For more information on this year’s NACCC, you can check out www.naccc2011austin.wordpress.com.

Sugar Alternatives for Energy and Hydration

Question: I am using the homebrew sugar formulations (sometimes added to green tea).  I am also trying to wean myself off 1/2 dose adrenalean “lip tonic delivery system” (biorhythm brand- caffeine, hoodia g, synephrine, yohimbe) capsule for energy.

My question is other than juice, can you suggest modifications in lieu of table sugar for energy and hydration.

Answer:

Both raw/organic honey or agave can work great in the homebrew (substitute in the same quantities for the sugar, or to taste), but you do have to shake well in order to make sure they don’t settle out.  Have you tried either of these?  Also, make sure to use at least the minimum amount of salt recommended in the homebrew as the temps rise, you need the sodium replacement if you’re sweating.
