31 Day Do Good Challenge: Day 29
If you followed Rob Greenfield’s ride for sustainability last summer, you would have seen the extreme side of water conservation. During his 104 days of cycling across the United States, Rob used just 160 gallons of water…the average American uses 80 to 100 gallons per day.
So where did the 160 gallons of water come from?
- 60 gallons straight from Lakes, rivers, streams, and rain
- 6 gallons from wells powered by hand pump or windmill
- 14 from wells powered by electricity
- 50 gallons diverted from waste
- 30 from the grid
Yeah, this is pretty extreme…..and will make today’s challenge seem so much easier. You can read more about Rob’s water consumption during that right, right here: http://blog.greenfieldadventures.org/water-how-i-cycled-4700-miles-using-only-160-gallons/#more-754
Day 29: Conserve water today.
