If you’ve ever screamed at the television in disgust at your favourite team not chasing that race winning break or been disappointed at the amount of water bottles the domestiques are carrying up to the hot-shots then this is your chance to take control. We will be running a Fantasy Cycling leauge with the help of the good folks at Road.cc all year long so even if you’re not confident in your skills as a DS right now… you have time to swat up.

Union #Bikeschooliste Internationale (UBI)

Whether you’ve dreamt of being Jonathan Vaughters, Dave Brailsford or Philippe Mauduit (ok nobody’s ever dreamt of being Mauduit!) then this is the time to take control of your riders and strive for success. The rules to the competition are simple and outlined here. For added brilliance, we have our very own league within the game, especially for #bikeschool class members. Once signed up make sure you go to the League tab join game 75462 which is the humouressly titled Union #Bikeschooliste Internationale otherwise known as the UBI.

Will you be Johnny H…?

Or a Danny M…!?

Last year’s competition was great fun but had a few glitches so it’s nice to see the team have redesigned the format and game engine. As an added insentive we will be organising some spot prizes throughout the season… but for now, enter for fun because we have no idea what these prizes might be just yet! Just make sure you don’t end up like Soapy Bob and bluff your way out of a team!

Step 1

Sign up for the Road.cc Fantasy Cycling game HERE

Step 2

Add your team to the Union #Bikeschooliste Internationale (UBI) with code 75462

Step 3

Try and beat me! I’ll be playing as DexterPlus Racing… so bring it on!

Keep The Rubber Side Down

Glad to have you a part of this, Mark.  If you didn’t already guess, my team name is lovingthebike.  This is going to be fun…….but maybe not as fun as being over there watching the TdU with you.

Sugar Alternatives for Energy and Hydration

Question: I am using the homebrew sugar formulations (sometimes added to green tea).  I am also trying to wean myself off 1/2 dose adrenalean “lip tonic delivery system” (biorhythm brand- caffeine, hoodia g, synephrine, yohimbe) capsule for energy.

My question is other than juice, can you suggest modifications in lieu of table sugar for energy and hydration.

Answer:

Both raw/organic honey or agave can work great in the homebrew (substitute in the same quantities for the sugar, or to taste), but you do have to shake well in order to make sure they don’t settle out.  Have you tried either of these?  Also, make sure to use at least the minimum amount of salt recommended in the homebrew as the temps rise, you need the sodium replacement if you’re sweating.
