#bikeschool: What Would Your Bike Say?

Yesterday on Twitter, our friend @SaraSantiago asked an interesting #bikeschool question:

It was nice to see a little of the #bikeschool magic happening randomly through the week and not just on Thursday nights.  Sara asked a fun question that sparked some interesting answers.  Below are just a couple of the responses, and you can check out the #bikeschool twitter stream to see all the rest.

So, if your bike could talk….what would it say?

Our #bikeschool correspondent, Stevie has been out at the Tour de France since it started and will have some updates for us very soon.  Keep an eye out for that.

Glad to see I wasn’t the only one whose bike complains when I put on a few pounds.

My Bike would say I need a break and a Bath. She don’t get cleaned as much as she used to #bikeschool

All my bikes say, “Ride me more!  No, no that one!  Ride Me!  Ride Me!”  I have to alternate them so they don’t get too jealous.  ;-P

…I should add, my bike ‘Red’ is a single speed and Guinness crazy.

Also, @SaraSantiago:twitter should be professor at #bikeschool one night.

Great reply…..I’m pretty sure I heard my bike saying the same thing today when I was out riding.

Sugar Alternatives for Energy and Hydration

Question: I am using the homebrew sugar formulations (sometimes added to green tea).  I am also trying to wean myself off 1/2 dose adrenalean “lip tonic delivery system” (biorhythm brand- caffeine, hoodia g, synephrine, yohimbe) capsule for energy.

My question is other than juice, can you suggest modifications in lieu of table sugar for energy and hydration.

Answer:

Both raw/organic honey or agave can work great in the homebrew (substitute in the same quantities for the sugar, or to taste), but you do have to shake well in order to make sure they don’t settle out.  Have you tried either of these?  Also, make sure to use at least the minimum amount of salt recommended in the homebrew as the temps rise, you need the sodium replacement if you’re sweating.
