The Next Best Athletic Enhancement
With more and more athletic enhancement products coming out all the time, it’s extremely tough for us cyclists to figure out what we should try and what would work best for us. Protein, amino, creatine, energy, caffeine, and countless other categories have more than enough products in them to make your head spin. All of them enticing us with what they can do for us and how they can improve our performance in our sport. Many claiming to be the next big thing.
Many supplements and enhancement products have merit and we’ll likely be reviewing a lot of them in the future….but with a pretty strong nutritional background, we’re going to be tough. You’re really going to have to bring it in order to knock off what we consider to be the number one enhancer of all time. It always has been, and always will be the mightiest of them all….WATER.
So powerful it can penetrate rock. So strong it can never be trapped. So incredible it can heal our body. And so refreshing that when you really need it, there is absolutely nothing in the world that can possibly taste better.
“One day, someone showed me a glass of water that was half full. He said, “Is it half full or half empty?’ So I drank the water. No more problem.” – Alexaner Jodorowsky
As you probably already know, it’s not totally about how much water you’re drinking on the bike. Sure it’s important, but equally so for the rest of the day as well. Are you drinking enough?
If you think you’re drinking enough water, try guzzling down another few glasses a day. Is your pee clear? If not, your body is not operating up to its potential. Drink at least 10 big glasses of water every day. If you’re drinking coffee, tea, or any other caffeinated drink…add a couple more to the list and knock back another couple glasses each day.
It was the first “Wonder Drug” on the planet. It’s still the best one out there. Powerful in nature….but even more powerful in your body. Curing disease. Energizing your soul. Making you complete.
Let the rest of the world keep chasing after that elusive drug to help them make it through another day. Let’s make sure that you’ll be the one who benefits from all the greatness water has to offer.
It all starts with good old natural and amazing water. Please make sure you’re drinking enough. Proper nutrition is essential for everyone, but even more so if you’re an athlete trying hard to make yourself better. It’s a key ingredient for sport and for life. Next week, Loving the Bike will start featuring it’s “cycling nutrition tip of the week” on our site. Watch for it and always feel free to contact us with any questions.

I am new to blogging, so I feel like I am in the “just taking notes” phase. But when I do find a blog topic I like, I do comment because I genuinely like what has been said or the information was helpful to me. I am officially linked to your blog now, so I will be checking in often! Thanks for all the great advice.
Great video ! Thank you. We are all one family!
Water. Can’t live without and oh yeah, can’t live without it. Definitely muy importante!
Hey Darryl,
Nice blog! water is super important, the thing to remember, however, is that not all water is created equal. Even bottled water can have toxins in it depending on the level of purification. Also the PH of the water is important and affects the body’s interactions with free radicals, which can indirectly lead to inflammation.
keep up the good posts buddy!
Thanks Doc……Really appreciate your input. Great comments and totally on point. We were trying to keep the water post as simplified as possible for this go around. Looks like we’re going to be needing a water hydration part II. I’ll be coming after you for some guest comments for that one for sure. Keep it hardcore, Shannon.
I can’t remember where I read it but, the auther made the statement that if your urine should be completely clear once a day. Anymore and you are over-hydrated and flushing your body.
Ever hear of that ?
Okay Dave, let’s talk pee for a minute….hahahaha. The author you are referring to is correct. Totally clear (or colorless) urine is generally a sign of over-hydration….far better than dehydration, but a concern none-the-less. However, the color should more closely resemble a clear color than yellow.
I’ve gone back and put a disclaimer in the post indicating that I’m not a certified doctor or nutritionist. Keep on drinking that water and be sure to keep yourself hydrated all day long.
