Are you an avid cyclist? If so, then it’s important to be aware of some of the issues while riding on two wheels. At some point, you might sustain an injury. If you don’t handle this the right way, then it can set you back and stop you getting the great workout that you are hoping for. So, here are some tips that you should keep in mind to cope with and treat an injury that you might have sustained while cycling.

A Cold Compress

First, you should think about using a cold compress. The right cold compress will mean that you can reduce the swelling as soon as you sustain the injury. This can help ensure that the healing process is far more rapid overall. If you don’t have a cold compress, soaking your leg or the affected area in cold water can also help a great deal. Particularly, if you have already noticed that there are signs of swelling.

Rest

After you sustain an injury, you might feel the urge to get on your bike so that you can continue riding. This is understandable and it’s human nature to fight on. Don’t forget, adrenaline will also be pumping through your body if the injury was quite significant. However, it’s important to give your body the rest that it likely does need. Don’t make the mistake of ignoring an injury because this could make the situation far worse and result in a slower recovery. Depending on the injury you have sustained, you might need at least a couple weeks without exercise.

Long Term Treatment

It’s possible that you have sustained a significant injury while cycling that has left you with long term pain and potentially even mobility issues. If that’s the case, then we recommend that you do look into the treatment options that are available to you. You might be able to get surgery for issues such as a hernia. However, do keep in mind that if there is a problem with a treatment such as a hernia mesh then it can make the pain worse and you might need support from experts available on sites such as rosenfeldinjurylawyers.com

Pain Coping Methods

If an injury from cycling has left you with pain, then you might want to explore some of the coping methods and ways to manage the pain that are available to you. For instance, you could think about using herbal treatments to cope with pain. Countless people have found that herbal treatments can offer the better quality of life that they were hoping for. Or, you might want to explore physical forms of treatment such as water therapy. This can be great if your joints feel stiff and overwhelmed when you are cycling.

Speak To A Professional

If you do sustain an injury while cycling, then it’s always worth getting checked out by a doctor. You might think that if nothing hurts then you are totally fine. But don’t be so sure because pain can take days, weeks, or months to emerge.

That’s why it’s important to speak to a pro. They will be able to check whether there are underlying signs of an injury and offer you the right form of treatment. This can help guarantee that pain doesn’t get worse or more difficult to deal with over time. You can learn more about when to see a doctor on sites such as healthychildren.org

Don’t Avoid Your Bike

Finally, tempting as it may be to just avoid your bike completely after an injury, this just isn’t going to be the right choice. Instead, you do need to get back on your bike as soon as you feel better. If you don’t start working out quickly enough then your muscles aren’t going to be used to the pressure when you finally do start cycling again. When you do get back on the road, make sure that you are taking it slow. It’s not a race to get the fastest recovery, that’s for sure.

We hope this helps you understand some of the key steps that you should take to effectively handle an injury that you might have sustained while cycling. Cycling is a great way to keep fit, but there’s every chance that you might experience an accident or incident somewhere along the road. This could be as simple as a pulled muscle or it might be tied to an issue that you had when you fell off your bike while on the road. By treating an injury like this the right way, you will be able to get back out on the road without any further delays.

Sugar Alternatives for Energy and Hydration

Question: I am using the homebrew sugar formulations (sometimes added to green tea).  I am also trying to wean myself off 1/2 dose adrenalean “lip tonic delivery system” (biorhythm brand- caffeine, hoodia g, synephrine, yohimbe) capsule for energy.

My question is other than juice, can you suggest modifications in lieu of table sugar for energy and hydration.

Answer:

Both raw/organic honey or agave can work great in the homebrew (substitute in the same quantities for the sugar, or to taste), but you do have to shake well in order to make sure they don’t settle out.  Have you tried either of these?  Also, make sure to use at least the minimum amount of salt recommended in the homebrew as the temps rise, you need the sodium replacement if you’re sweating.
