Make it Happen Monday: What’s Right?

I often catch myself saying the words, “what’s wrong” several times a week.  Whether it’s in the direction of my baby boy who’s crying, my older kids’ upset tone, or a sigh of frustration from my Wife….those two words seem to be the first to pop out.

If you believe in the power of words and the incredible things they can do, than focusing on the negative is not something you want to be doing.  I know better, but still seem to have these words slip out without even thinking.  For some reason I use the words, “what’s wrong” a lot more than saying “what’s right”.  I wonder why this is?

I’m going to continue working at focusing on the positive and am going to start off this week by asking all of you…..What’s Right?  Give me the goods and let me know about all the right things that are happening for you today on and off the bike.

Great post Darryl, I definitely forget too often to look at everything that is right in my life.

What is right for me right now, is that I am loving the bike!

Thanks Shawn.  Loving the Bike is definitely something that is totally “right”.  Great attitude and let’s make 2012 the best year for life and riding….ever.

I guess the easiest way to respond is to say my life is right, both on and off of the bike, I’ve also made no secret that it’s because of the bike.

As you already know, I love your attitude and I’m so happy to hear that it resonates from the bike.  Remember what I said….this is the year of the Rockstar, my man.

For any of those out there who don’t know what #NYRevolutions is….it’s a place where you can post your New Year’s Resolutions and have people help keep you accountable and support you.  I believe it is focused on bicycle related goals, but I’m sure they’ll taken any goals you have.  Find them on twitter at @twitter-451175162:disqus or on G+ at

in the words of Don Henley

    I’ve got great expectations
    I’ve got family and friends
    I’ve got satisfying work
I’ve got a back that bends
For every breath, for every day of living
    This is my Thanksgiving

I like the fact that you often use song lyrics to send a message across….awesome.  This is another great one, Tim.

Great reminder…very simple, but very tough to remember. What’s right for me? Have a job, have my health, a great family and an opportunity to make a difference. Thanks for the posting.

I do the Make it Happen Monday series because I need the reminders for myself.  I’m glad this one helped remind you of all the good things as well.  Happy New Year.

Sugar Alternatives for Energy and Hydration

Question: I am using the homebrew sugar formulations (sometimes added to green tea).  I am also trying to wean myself off 1/2 dose adrenalean “lip tonic delivery system” (biorhythm brand- caffeine, hoodia g, synephrine, yohimbe) capsule for energy.

My question is other than juice, can you suggest modifications in lieu of table sugar for energy and hydration.

Both raw/organic honey or agave can work great in the homebrew (substitute in the same quantities for the sugar, or to taste), but you do have to shake well in order to make sure they don’t settle out.  Have you tried either of these?  Also, make sure to use at least the minimum amount of salt recommended in the homebrew as the temps rise, you need the sodium replacement if you’re sweating.
