Make it Happen Monday: Year of the ROCKSTAR

2012 may officially be the Year of the Dragon, but we’re deeming it the Year of the Rockstar.  If you caught some of my tweets leading up to the new year, you would have seen some pretty bold statements about all of us over at Loving the Bike (our readers, friends, contributors, teammates) achieving Rockstar status in 2012.

Kicking off 2012 as a Rockstar: On the beach drinking a Marley's Mellow Mood

I’m not generally all that valiant in the words that I speak (or write), but this time I’m changing things up a little.  As of 1/1/2012 I’m feeling like a Rockstar and am living the Rockstar lifestyle on my bike, in this blog, and within my personal life as well.  Are you with me?

What does it take to be living like a Rockstar?  You might not find yourself on stage in front of thousands of fans, but here’s what your Loving the Bike Rockstar status will include:

  • Full out confidence in all that you do.
  • Walking with a Swagger in your step….and riding with a Swagger in your pedal stroke.
  • Feeling wicked good about yourself, both inside and out.
  • Being true to yourself, Creating your own lifestyle, and Living each day doing what you Love.
  • People always do nice things for you (and doing the same to them).
  • A whole lot of smiling, high fives, and fist pumps.
  • Well rounded and complete Success.

It’s all about attitude, baby.  Picture yourself having all this (and more), and it will fall nicely into place. Be Bold….Make it Happen….and let’s Rock out 2012 together.  A great big “Thank You” to all our Loving the Bike supporters and friends for helping make 2011 an incredible year, and for rolling into 2012 with us….you are definitely Rockstars to me.

Will you be living the Rockstar lifestyle this year?  What are you doing to make it happen?

Enjoy Your Ride

“Being true to yourself, Creating your own lifestyle, and Living each day doing what you Love.”
This is what stood out most to me. This is one of my goals for 2012. Doing what you Love everyday is so important in a Rockstars life.  If not, what’s the point? Great post!

Yeah, I like that one as well.  I hope you’re able to do what you love every day….Happy New Year.

I’m in as well.  The perks look really good and I’ve always wanted to call myself a rockstar.  I’m feeling very motivated right now so thanks for “making it happen”.

Sounds great, Jon.  Keep up the motivation and let’s keep on rocking all year long.

2012 is all about getting my friends and family to the places they want to be. Being a Rockstar is also remembering to help hold the spotlight on someone else.
Keep the Rubber Side Down my friends.

I love your plans for 2012 and what you mentioned makes you “ultra-rockstar” in my opinion.

I am standing with my head down and eyes closed… just off stage, to the left.  My hands are cusped together at my waist.  I listen intently to all that is going on around me, not wanting to miss a single wave of sound.  Behind me is almost a year of struggle.  At the forefront of those struggles are the daily battle of whether or not I am doing the right thing.  I am also confronted with discouraging remarks from close friends and family….and who hasn’t struggled financially.  Still, I continue with reluctant excitement.  I battled injuries, insults and bad eating habits (still struggling a bit here).  At the root, no matter what emotions or struggles I encounter, I believe in myself and what I am doing….It’s my turn to take the stage…

Believing in yourself my friend, is all it takes.  It’s the difference between a good Karaoke singer and selling out Texas Stadium.  Mick Jagger, Diamond David Lee Roth, Bon Scott, Lemmy Kilmister….none of these dudes are known for incredible vocal abilities, yet they are all Rockstars (one may be the biggest of all-time).  Why, they have everything Darryl is talking about…

I found my “swagger” one pedal stroke at a time, I keep my stride with the positive energy emanating from the crew at LovingTheBike and everyone that contributes (guest blogs and comments).

    From the legendary band AC/DC:

“We rock at dawn on the front line, like a bolt right out of the blue, the sky’s alight with the guitar bite, Heads will roll and rock tonight…for those about to rock, we salute you”….

    Rock on and Happy Riding…

Hahahaha, thanks for brining a little extra Rockstar flavor to this post with your awesome comments….and AC/DC quote.  You’ve definitely got the rockstar attitude….and we salute you right back.

I like the hashtag Aaron. #Rockstar2012 it is!

I am setting SMART goals this year. These give me a definitive goal to achieve and a clear vision of how to obtain it.

Nice Rockstar picture, Shawn.  Good to see you setting your “SMART” goals….hope they are STOKED as well.

    I’m with you Darryl! #Rockstar2012

You’re thinking the same way as I am.  I was planning on using a #rockstar hashtag, but #Rockstar2012 just might be better.  Thanks Aaron.

Sugar Alternatives for Energy and Hydration

Question: I am using the homebrew sugar formulations (sometimes added to green tea).  I am also trying to wean myself off 1/2 dose adrenalean “lip tonic delivery system” (biorhythm brand- caffeine, hoodia g, synephrine, yohimbe) capsule for energy.

My question is other than juice, can you suggest modifications in lieu of table sugar for energy and hydration.

Both raw/organic honey or agave can work great in the homebrew (substitute in the same quantities for the sugar, or to taste), but you do have to shake well in order to make sure they don’t settle out.  Have you tried either of these?  Also, make sure to use at least the minimum amount of salt recommended in the homebrew as the temps rise, you need the sodium replacement if you’re sweating.
