Win Brite Buds: The World’s First Reflective Earphones
We’ve talked about the earphone products from Far End Gear a couple of times in the past, and today we’re talking about their brand new product called Brite Buds and how you can win some for yourself.
The Far End Gear company provides earphone based products for outdoor enthusiasts like us. Seeing as it’s founder is an avid road cyclists and outdoorsman, they know first hand what’s important to their customers.
If an effort to allow people to listen to music and maintain alertness to their surroundings, Far End Gear provides specialized earbuds that mix both channels of audio so you get stereo quality coming through a single ear.
They just recently added Brite Buds™ Reflective Cord Earbuds to their offering mix and are the first to offer this sort of product. They describe the Brite Buds as being developed “with the nocturnal athlete and outdoorsman in mind” because of how the cord makes you more visible in the dark. But the product most definitely can be used at any time of day.

The contest is now closed……thanks to all of you who entered. Congratulations to Melinda and David B who both win a set of Brite Buds. A big thanks also goes out to Far End Gear for supplying us with such a wonderful product.
I want you to try these Brite Buds out for yourself. The guys from Far End Gear are offering up two sets to give away (and you can choose either the single earbud or stereo set if you win).
To enter, leave a comment letting us know why you like having music with you on a ride and how the Brite Buds are going to help you enjoy it.
Leave your comment by Noon on Friday and we’ll announce the winners soon after. We’ll randomly pick two winners using random.org.
Other Products from Far End Gear
I have been promoting and talking about Far End Gear for over a year now because I feel they offer a great product with a good purpose…but up until a couple of weeks ago, I had never actually tried them out for myself. As I’ve mentioned several times, I like to ride with my iPod even though it can be a heated topic among us cyclists…..and Far End Gear has all sorts of options for people like me.
I personally prefer having earbuds in both ears, so their standard earbud options work best for me. But the Brite Buds are also available in their stereo model or a single sided, stereo-to-mono version mixing both channels of sound from a stereo audio device into a single ear.
Another cool product that they offer is the BuDLoKs. These replace the stock, in-ear budtips produced by other manufacturers and allows you to lock them into your ear with a soft silicone wing. If you’ve ever had problems with your earphones falling out of your ears, you’ll want to use these for sure.
More information on all of the products from Far End Gear can be found at www.farendgear.com.
You have brought up a very great details , thanks for the post.
Been so swamped I missed the contest but, they really look like great products. I will have to check them out.
Music makes you feel like working out harder even when you’re lacking some energy.
With fall coming the ability to have one more piece of gear that is reflective would be great. I prefer to have only one ear bud in at a time. I will listen to music but most often I listen to podcasts.
I like the idea of reflective buds for early morning runs and the one ear buds for long road rides. I typically put only one bud in, but the quality isn’t there..
Music is fine, but podcasts make the ride go faster! I love earbuds that stay in your ears easily like these would do with BuDLoKs, and being reflective just makes them that much better for my 5:30 am starts!
Hi Dave….I hope our Cycling360 podcast is one that you listen to on your rides. http://cycling360media.com
Music and the bike ride: Escape, isolation ans the ability to block out the world around me…except the cars whizzing by me.
I love listening to music while riding. But I only do it while on the off-road bike paths. With a single Brite bud, I would be able to enjoy my music and still stay safe when riding on busy roads.
I could listen to the music much better with these headphones! Listening to music is soothing!
Love the idea of headphones that reflect back – perfect for the duathlons I am training for.
I would love to have a pair of these headphones, especially the single one, since it is illegal for me to ride with two headphones. Riding with music is just so awesome!!
If these have iPod controls built in they would be perfect!
I don’t listen to music while riding on the open road. It’s not safe & against the law where I live. However, I do listen while riding on the 100 miles of multiuse paved paths where I live. I ride there at night & these would be another layer of safety & illumination for me!
I’d like to ride with headphones, but I’m always afraid of not being fully aware of my surroundings. The single earbud would definitely help with that!
A beautiful idea. I love music and it’s a major part of my life. I still can’t get over just how wonderful Mp3 players are as a kid who grew up with 8 tracks! Almost always have my music with me on a ride or x-country skiing. Day and night!
I like the idea of having one earbud with good sound so count me in on this one.
I could use a new set of earphones and these look great.
My commute is always better with music, but I’m really interested in the single ear option, as I’m usually the only bike on the road during rush hour for my eight mile suburban commute.
I like to have music with me when I am alone, as it makes those lonnggg training rides go by faster. The idea of having reflective ear buds is perfect since safety is a #1 priority for me when riding alone.
These will be great for commuting to and from work in low light hours!!
I like having music on a ride but only use an earphone in one ear so I can still hear traffic.
Congratulations, David…you’re one of the winners in our Far End Gear Brite Buds giveaway. Please send your mailing address to us a [email protected].
I recently started riding again and do so every evening
after work while listening to the Rangers game.
As the days get shorter it would be great to have these reflective ear
buds!
I love having music on my trail rides. It helps me stay focused, and since music also helps me stay calm, I feel all over great. You know that zen like feeling you’ve talked about on your bike? I feel it doubly when I have my tunes going. 😉 I think I would like the single earbud, because I’m riding less on trails and more on roads these days. Need to stay safe.
Congratulations, Melinda…you’re one of the winners in our Far End Gear Brite Buds giveaway. Please send your mailing address to us a [email protected].
I use a motoactv while I ride and it gives me an idea of what music makes me perform better. Often times its all relative to cadence. I would love a set of reflective buds to stand out while riding.
Music is a definite motivator on a long ride to keep myself going. And even on short, fast rides to keep my pace steady. I’d love the single earbud style, because I feel much safer being able to hear traffic. Ride for life!
I like to make my music match my ride. Louder, crazier when I’m going fast or in Austin and slower, more mellow when I’m out in the country. I like to two ear buds for a more surround sound
I love listen to music when the going gets tough, Crank after Crank on the pedal listening to music gets my mind off the pain and I can think about the gain.
Music helps me maintain my cadence and often provides a needed boost in the middle of a long ride. Love the reflective cord, which along with a single stereo earbud maximizes safetey. Nice work!
Love music for pacing. Hate dealing with a second bud (would love the single bud style)
I like to ride with music/podcasts because when I commute in the country, it passes the time. Even though the scenery is nice, when you ride it 4 to 5 times a week, nearly 52 weeks per year, it does start to wear on you.
