Send Us Your Protein Supplement Questions
Tomorrow we’ll be recording a Cycling 360 podcast on the topic of Protein Supplements for Cyclists, and I want you to let me know any questions you have so we can include it in the show.
Our Loving the Bike nutritionist, Kelli, will be joining us on the podcast and sharing her knowledge and recommendations on everything cyclists should know about protein supplements. Leave a comment below with any specific questions you have and we’ll be sure to work them into the show and get some answers for you.
If you haven’t already seen the recent article Kelli did on Protein Bars, be sure to check that one out as well. She provides a ton of information on what to look for in a protein bar, as well as rates a few of the bars on the market. Plus she includes a fantastic recipe for homemade brownie protein bars.
If you’d like Kelli to review and rate any other type of protein bar, be sure to leave a comment about that as well….she’ll be doing a part 2 on “Protein Bars Exposed”.
Hi Kelli,
I’ve been trying to ditch teh whole ‘supplement’ approach, and stick with real foods for the bike and recovery. For post-ride, I’ve been having chocolate milk (or just straight milk) and a small protein-rich snack (like a boiled egg or some canned tuna & rice).
What would you suggest as an ideal post-ride drink/snack that’s protein-rich to consume in that ‘magic 30-min window’, that falls into that ‘real food’ category?
Many thanks – loving your posts, I’ve been learning heaps since discovering this blog!
My concern is post ride recovery – should I consume a whey protein isolate with l-glutamine or skip all the fancy stuff and go for a tablespoon of peanut butter or an egg on a bagel and call it a day? Not looking to loose weight but to build lean muscle and RECOVER.
I’d like to know if there is one protein supplement source that is recommended over the others? I usually take protein bars, but would like to take what is best for me.
Can someone take too many protein supplements? I have been taking powders and bars for years and sometimes wonder if I’m causing problems for my body.
