I Support This Kickstarter Cycling Project

Okay, so I seriously must get asked to help support a cycling related Kickstarter project at least a few times each month.  Yeah, there seems to be a whole lot of cycling initiatives trying to get funded.  But my response is always the same, “In order to keep things fair and consistent, we can put up a sponsored post at a cost to you”.  Yep, that’s the cold-hearted truth…..I’ll only support a Kickstarter campaign with a post on this site if we are paid.

The Papers Kickstarter Cycling

But a new Kickstarter campaign by a Chicago based indie band has sweet talked me into promoting their project for free.  All it took was for me to watch their promotional video and hear these words:

We don’t want your money, we want you to go on a bike ride.

That’s right, these guys aren’t really looking for funding….they are asking for your cycling videos to be part of a very cool mix of travel, bikes, and music.  Here, I’ll let them give you the exact details:

We’re an indie band from Chicago called The Papers who like to make traveling bike videos in different cities as a visual attachment to our album. Our goal is to collect videos from as many places as possible so our music can travel the world. As a final product, we’ll sync the videos to our music, and the album will be shared on our site in an interactive click-through fashion that will allow the viewer to pick and choose which cities to explore as our album plays.

So yeah, I support this campaign and have personally backed them….and encourage you to send them a cycling video from where you live as well.  I’m looking forward to seeing the completed project and many of your smiling cycling faces.

Sugar Alternatives for Energy and Hydration

Question: I am using the homebrew sugar formulations (sometimes added to green tea).  I am also trying to wean myself off 1/2 dose adrenalean “lip tonic delivery system” (biorhythm brand- caffeine, hoodia g, synephrine, yohimbe) capsule for energy.

My question is other than juice, can you suggest modifications in lieu of table sugar for energy and hydration.

Answer:

Both raw/organic honey or agave can work great in the homebrew (substitute in the same quantities for the sugar, or to taste), but you do have to shake well in order to make sure they don’t settle out.  Have you tried either of these?  Also, make sure to use at least the minimum amount of salt recommended in the homebrew as the temps rise, you need the sodium replacement if you’re sweating.
