Team: Happiest On My Bike
Pro, novice, mountain, road….whatever type of rider you are….what I feel matters most is the love for the bike. I’m happy to share with you a group who definitely has that love.
It’s amazing what can come out of a simple connection on Facebook. Well, maybe it wasn’t exactly that simple. I’ve been resisting Facebook for a long time now as I just didn’t really feel the need to become a part of all that. I’ve been a very happy Twitter user for the past year and that was enough to keep my social networking needs satisfied. But about a month ago I decided I would dive into the FB world and see what it’s like.
I added my circle of friends and then started adding in a few from their circles as well. One addition was Carrie Gray-Stewart, a friend of one of our sponsors, Bike Poncho. To this day, she is the only person that I’ve tried to add who has come back with 20 questions prior to clicking the accept button. Now that’s probably a smart thing to do….and after realizing that I was a fairly decent guy, she friended me up.
After that, I found out that she is part of a cycling team in Ontario, Canada called “Happiest on my Bike”. The name intrigued me so I had to find out more. A few Facebook messages turned into a nice little phone call, and today it became a post on the Loving the Bike blog site. Pretty amazing how things roll in todays social media world.
Their team’s captain, Lori Fox-Rossi came up with the name. Because “happiest on my bike” best described them she thought it was the perfect name and they went with it. Carrie and Lori then came up with the logo. It might not be the most professional team graphic out there, but it sure does express the fun these guys have.
Currently the team consists of 20 people, all with very different lifestyles, backgrounds and business. They have Moms, corporate execs, and about every vocation you can think of, and they all share one common interest……cycling. Of course, being based out of Burlington and Toronto, they aren’t able to ride year round….but one of their team members, Nicole Dietl, is certified to train and teach spinning so they get together for that in the off season.
It’s such a fun team that they were able to recruit all the members of another local riding group simply because they looked like they were having such a great time.
The Happiest on my Bike team’s main focus is on riding together to raise money for cancer and other charities and from the sounds of it, they are having a blast in the process. Congratulations to this team and I look forward to hearing about more good times coming out of Burlington and Toronto in the future.

Hey Darryl, what a wonderful blog you have created ! We’re honored you mentioned us.
Team “Happiest On My Bike” is all about having fun, enjoying time on the bike, and helping others in the process. The 20 of us have currently raised over $38,000 for cancer research, and our goal is $60,000 by the middle of June 2010. Wish us luck!
I personally hope everyone on the planet discovers their love for the bike. I live by the belief that “when life gives you anything less than you had hoped; turn to the healing power of bike”.
Thanks guys, keep up the great work in team: happiest on my bike. I’ve made the correction in the post. All the best.
Hey Darryl thanks for the write up on your blog………must mention though that I really can’t take any credit for the logo, it was Lori who designed that!!
Great job Darryl ! Thank you so much for your interest regarding our cycling team. It was an honor to have you contact me and write up something for your site. I loved your second paragraph ! Glad we are now FB friends !!!
