¡Viva La Bicicleta! – Why Do You Ride?
Recently my friends over at Viva la Bicicleta asked some of their customers why they ride a bike and what it means to them. They put it together in this spectacular little video and I wanted to share it with all of you.
See what these four people had to say and then share with us your reasons for riding. Although we all love the bike, our reasons and motivations are unique and personal to each and every one of us. I’m looking forward to hearing what you have to say.

I cannot imagine NOT riding.
For me, it is just the easiest way to get around. Cities are crowded. Parking is expensive. I struggled for a long time on public transportation, which never runs on schedule, but resisted getting a bike for a long time because I have a small apartment and nowhere to store it. But that all changed last year when I got a folding bike (it seems so obvious, doesn’t it?). Now I ride absolutely everywhere.
I ride to challenge myself. I ride for fun. I ride to get to work and to get home. I ride to see, hear, smell, feel, and experience the world in a way I never can when I drive in a car. Sometimes I ride to wash out my brain. The rhythmic and continuous turning of the cranks is like turning a key in a lock and opening the door to let out the worry and pent up feelings of the day. I ride because I can. I ride because I love it.
Wow, what great reason Susan. I love the “wash out my brain” response. Thanks for sharing this.
My reasons are simple. So much so that its how I always describe myself as a cyclist. “I ride a bike. Mostly commuting, sometimes recreational, Always for fun.”
Ride Safe.
I love your attitude, Mark. You totally have the right thoughts on this.
Riding for me is my therapy. Who needs a therapist when you have your Saturday group ride?! Bam!
Exactly, Anthony. I would be so messed up if I didn’t have the time I spend on my bike.
I’ve never thought too much about all the reasons I ride my bike but I know that it is something I really enjoy and can’t image not doing. The video is great and it’s nice to see companies like this promoting the bike lifestyle.
Thanks, George. Yeah, I can’t imagine it either.
I ride for health, fun, transportation, solitude, freedom and much more.
Great reasons, Al. There are so many incredible reasons to ride a bike…….thanks for sharing this.
I ride because it is a part of me. I would be lost without time on my bike.
Same here, Eric. I think it is a part of all of us who love the bike. As we say over here at Loving the Bike….doesn’t everything in life revolve around the bike?
