Yeah, we’ve moved to several locations that were all totally new to us without overly researching things or knowing exactly what we were getting into. I might...

Loving the Bike TV: Envision Where You’re Going

July 30, 2014
By

For this week’s episode, I’m leaning towards “loving life ON the bike”.  Most weeks I talk about how little things in life off the bike can help you live happier and chase your dreams.  Well, even though this week’s message focuses on the bike….the same idea can be used in all areas of your...

Loving the Bike TV: Simplify Your Vehicle

June 18, 2014
By

Living car free is the simplest way to go when talking about vehicles, but there are a whole bunch of other ways to simplify what you drive.  Instead of focusing on bicycle commuting, this time I’m talking about making the actual concept of owning a vehicle more simple. When you can take a vehicle...

My “Driver Education” Program Caught on Video

June 12, 2014
By

I’ve said many times that when I’m on my bike, I’m very aggressive and won’t take anything from any vehicle.  I call it a positive rage that only comes when I’m training on my bike. Well, here in Grenada I like to call it “driver education”.  Whenever possible, I’ll chase down a vehicle who...

This is the cycling video I’ve been wanting to make for a very long time now.  I’m not much of a video editor, but I put this together to give you a first hand look at how my riding looks in Grenada. Note: Grenada is a totally safe place to ride a bicycle…..for the average cyclist. ...

Loving the Bike TV: Believe You Can Do It

March 19, 2014
By

Belief is possibly the biggest ingredient when it comes to achieving your goals.  As you know, I’m no runner….but it wasn’t until that first dude ran a 4 minute mile that others knew it was possible and were able to do it themselves.  Same thing with climbing Everest.  Once it was done, there was...

Sugar Alternatives for Energy and Hydration

Question: I am using the homebrew sugar formulations (sometimes added to green tea).  I am also trying to wean myself off 1/2 dose adrenalean “lip tonic delivery system” (biorhythm brand- caffeine, hoodia g, synephrine, yohimbe) capsule for energy.

My question is other than juice, can you suggest modifications in lieu of table sugar for energy and hydration.

Answer:

Both raw/organic honey or agave can work great in the homebrew (substitute in the same quantities for the sugar, or to taste), but you do have to shake well in order to make sure they don’t settle out.  Have you tried either of these?  Also, make sure to use at least the minimum amount of salt recommended in the homebrew as the temps rise, you need the sodium replacement if you’re sweating.
