Contest Time: Stomach of Anger
The T-Shirt Giveaway is officially closed and the boys from Stomach of Anger have selected a winner.
Kendall (aka @velofreak) is the winner with his entry of “I Am The Motor“. Good job, Kendall…..I’m looking forward to seeing that one on a T-shirt.
Thanks to everyone for submitting your ideas….I enjoyed reading them all.
“I’m really disappointed. My stomach is full of anger, and I want to take my revenge. I will take my revenge in the coming days.”
– Andy Schleck
It was almost six months ago, but I’m sure you still remember the day that a dropped chain on Andy Schleck’s bike cost him the Tour de France. Upon this happening, Alberto Contador chose to take advantage of the situation and put a nice time gap between himself and Schleck.
I won’t get into the controversy, but Schleck (and others) felt that Contador should have taken the high road and waited for the chain to be put back on. So following this event, Andy was fuming and responded to the press with his “Stomach of Anger” comment.
Michael Babcock and Kacha Azema liked this quote so much that they decided to build a company based on it. They started their company, Stomach of Anger with a T-shirt based on Schleck’s quote…and have slowly added other T-shirts with memorable cycling quotes to their line up.
When I came across these guys, I immediately loved the concept and what they had going on. There are a lot of cycling t-shirts out there, but the ones from Stomach of Anger really capture the spirit and emotion of us cyclists. I’ve got mine, and I want you to have one as well…..so here’s your chance.

A cartoon spartacus caricature of Fabian on a TT Bike with the quote “I am not an animal, I am a Leopard (with the line under the o).”
“They pave these roads to hide my paint, but the tifosi bandit strikes again” with a picture of some of the mountain roads all painted up. I know, the poem part doesn’t rhyme, but I couldn’t come up with anything that rhymes with paint that means again.
I’d love a shirt that had : If it’s not FIXED, It’s Broken

Oh man, all my fixie friends are going to love that one.

When I climb I always tell myself “the downhill is the payoff…the downhill is the payoff”
Image could be a nice simple uphill line (or a squiggle representing a switchback climb) with a steep downhill drop at the end and a cyclist almost at the top with little sweat drops around his head and a grimace.
I mon Bahn to ride!
Its just skin, no worries.
I have a couple, more motivational than cycling specific from my days in the military.
“There’s no such thing as bad weather, only poor equipment!”
“Pain is weakness leaving the body”
I’m no designer but both quotes could be featured with a graphic of a cyclist working really hard in pouring rain or driving snow.
A photo of Fabian Cancellara, taken from the ground or at least below his knees so he looks enormous (not that his legs aren’t already frighteningly huge), and the quote could be: “Check the motor: me.”
Have a bear outline and the quote “Careful, you could get attacked by a bear in the Pyrenees” (see http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4WfD7lYkKqA)
Have a outline of Kirk Douglas facing Fabian Cancellara anf the quote “No, I’m Sparticus!”
Careful, you could get attacked by a bear in the Pyrenees.. (see http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4WfD7lYkKqA)
A pic of past Alpe du Huez winners with the phrase, Domestiques? We don’t need no stinkin’ domestiques!
How about a pic of the Alpe d’Huez switchbacks on the back and a pic of Jack Nicholson (or Lance, Frank Schleck, Carlos Sastre, or Pantani) on the front yelling, “You WANT me on that climb! You NEED me on that climb!
Ride it like it’s going out of style…
Ride. Eat. Rest. Repeat.
Hills for Breakfast!
It will be no surprise what my quote will be
‘Keep the Rubber Side Down’
Great idea.
Wouldn’t it be cool to have your life motto on a shirt? Good luck, Ian.
Ok, I have no idea where I heard this, but here you go:
“Hill make you strong, head wind make you mean.”
I vote for this one.
Am I spinning in squares?
Cycling:
No excuses.
Just you and your inadequacies!
I can’t win my own contest, but here’s my pick for the next T-Shirt Quote:
“This is my body, and I can do whatever I want to it. I can push it. Study it. Tweak it. Listen to it. Everybody wants to know what I’m on. What am I on? I’m on my bike busting my ass six hours a day. What are you on?” – Lance Armstrong

“I iz mashing pedals”
“I AM THE MOTOR!”
Congratulations Kendall on your winning submission.
“Two motors: a left one and a right one” over a picture of a grimicing racer.
