Make it Happen Monday: The Tambo Way

I really do believe that the more you worry about something, the more problems you encounter.  Although I try to fight it, I was born a worrier and struggle with letting it go each and every day.  But the more life I live, the more I realize that if you do not let worry...

Make it Happen Monday: Fight For World Happiness

October 10, 2011
By

In a world full of happy people, I’d never have a concern. Never wondering how that child feels. Never wondering why there isn’t more love. A friend would help a friend.  A stranger would help a stranger. Every person would show kindness to the person sitting next to them. We’d all remain perfect, just...

Make it Happen Monday: Butterfly Effect

October 3, 2011
By

I don’t mean to get all scientific on you here….but bare with me for a second.  The butterfly effect is a phrase which encapsulates the more technical notion of sensitive dependence on initial conditions in chaos theory.  Small variations of the initial condition of a nonlinear dynamical system may produce large variations in the...

Make it Happen Monday: The Simple Life

August 29, 2011

Simple Living in a Not So Simple Society Is it possible to live “the simple life”?  Better yet….is it possible to live the simple life and be happy?  I pose that question to you, but I’m going to also answer it in my semi-professional opinion. We hear about simplifying our lives all the time….from...

Whoa……Hold on…..These fingers that I’m typing with right now are full of power and able to do amazing things.  That’s right, I have enough energy and power in one of these fingers to create all that I’ve ever wanted in life…..and more. Believe it…..it’s true.  We all have an infinite amount of inner power...

Make it Happen Monday: Can’t Stop, Won’t Stop

Other than my Family, cycling is about the only thing I’ve remained committed to over the years.  Since I took up road cycling 8 years ago, I’ve had a Can’t Stop, Won’t Stop attitude to pretty much everything about it. On an overall level, cycling has become a huge part of my life and...

Make it Happen Monday: Families

Each and every day….all around the world…..Families are in motion.  It honestly amazes me how on a daily basis a Family can get themselves ready, get the kids off to school or events, the Parents to work…..all the while never missing a beat.  Even when some sort of scheduling conflict comes up, all the...

Make it Happen Monday: Reality

Back when I was working in the tourism industry of St. Kitts, I would hear the same thing over and over from tourists about a day or so before they left the island….“It’s time for us to go back to reality”. The reply that my boss, X (yeah, that was his name), and I...

Sugar Alternatives for Energy and Hydration

Question: I am using the homebrew sugar formulations (sometimes added to green tea).  I am also trying to wean myself off 1/2 dose adrenalean “lip tonic delivery system” (biorhythm brand- caffeine, hoodia g, synephrine, yohimbe) capsule for energy.

My question is other than juice, can you suggest modifications in lieu of table sugar for energy and hydration.

Answer:

Both raw/organic honey or agave can work great in the homebrew (substitute in the same quantities for the sugar, or to taste), but you do have to shake well in order to make sure they don’t settle out.  Have you tried either of these?  Also, make sure to use at least the minimum amount of salt recommended in the homebrew as the temps rise, you need the sodium replacement if you’re sweating.
